The doctors/nurses in my prenatal classes at the hospital have all recommended that any caregiver who will be in close contact with an infant should get the TDAP shot to protect the baby from pertussis (whooping cough) ... unless the adult has received the TDAP shot within the last five years. There is an outbreak of whooping cough in Illinois so maybe this is a recommendation that's specific to my region, but the CDC has recommended the same thing on their website.

I really don't want to turn this into a debate about vaccines, but has anyone asked their parents or other caregivers to get the TDAP shot?
