My experience was different, after trying to push I ended up with a c-section. My doctor actually forgot to announce what (she) was, and we had to ask. But, I don't think they let Dad's peer around that blanket. My husband had to walk past it and he said it was a huge bloody mess, and luckily he didn't pass out.

Long story short, my doctor did, but maybe because it was a c-section.

I would just tell that to the doctor and nurse when you get to the hospital. my big request was skin on skin right after birth, and I told the nurse right when I got there. I also made sure dh knew to tell her in case I forgot because my head wasn't with it.

we weren't team green but will be next time. I don't care who announces though.

A friend of mine found out the gender of all 3 of her babies herself. She just asked to have the baby put on her chest as soon as the baby was born and she reached down to find out herself! Then she made the announcement.

I said SO even though I haven't had my baby yet. But my midwives know that we don't know the sex and during delivery I plan to remind them that I want DH to be the one to tell me.

I don't see any problem with writing it in your birth plan. Sure out might not happen, if there are more urgent things to worry about but if everything goes smoothly, this way they know.

You just reminded me I should put this in my birth plan when I get to that point. Not voting since lo is still in my belly.

My OB announced it each time since DH didn't want to go anywhere near my lower region. I loved the way my OB did it. With DD, my OB announced "indoor plumbing, it's a girl" and with DS he said "learn to duck, it's a boy".
