Call me crazy, but I like them! There are hundreds of other countries marching through the open ceremony, you want your country to stand out. There have been wacky color pants, etc...so it's not unheard of.

Aw-ful! The only thing good our local news had to saw about them is they're made in the good ole USA, which I love. Other than that, they look like a failed final exam project for art class or something my DH's grandmother would knit! Sorry Ralph!

I think it's pretty classy and demure as far as opening outfits go lol. Like @TheReelDeal: said, there is usually some crazy stuff!

@TheReelDeal: I see your perspective. There are a lot of countries working with a red, white, and blue color scheme--the UK, France, and Australia come to mind--and they could easily all sort of look the same! I sort of prefer France's take on the ski jacket/sweatpants look, and the Norwegian curlers win the red, white, and blue statement-making outfit award, in my opinion

I actually kinda like them. Are they fashion forward? Heck no... I think the whole point of the Opening Ceremonies is to be a little over the top. The whole pageantry thing..These work for sure on that level.

I like the hat but the sweater is definitely right up there with bad Christmas sweaters!
On a side note, flipping through the sideshow of 27 opening ceremony outfits worse than the US (the second link in the OP) had me in fits of laughter, especially the captions underneath! The Russians as Santa Claus should be awesome....because what Putin wants, Putin gets!

I think they're ugly. I was also not a huge fan of the Team Canada gear that I checked out at the Bay a few weeks ago. Too much black in the designs and that isn't even a Canadian color! 
Bring back Roots as the designer please!!!

The sweaters are crazy busy and hurt my eyes. The pants look comfy though!
