I found this so incredibly inspiring and powerful, and deeply sad all at the same time, I felt it had to be shared. For anyone interested in fostering, I hope this inspires you to jump in and open your home to a child who needs to be loved.

Just put our house on the market so we can build a bigger one and fill it with little people. Cant watch this now because I know I will ugly cry in public, but I definitely will later. Thank you for sharing

I'm still off and on interested in fostering but just haven't committed...yet. Have been for years. Just an hour ago, I told LO we might need to get a refrigerator soon and she replied, when are we going to get a foster (child) soon? She is totally on board. DH and I are back and forth. Just this year DH has been helping set up foster parents group at our church so he has been bringing home some concrete first hand info. Thanks for sharing! I'll check it out.

@Mrs. Lion: Yay! I wrote a reply but didn't tag you so just wanted to say contact me if you ever want to chat about the process or anything. I stopped blogging because I was worrying too much about being spotted by bio families, but I'm still here and always happy to talk to other foster parents or foster parents to be!

@808love: It's a lot to take on, but so far has been totally worth it for me. I know it's not for everyone, but it is so important and so rewarding. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to talk about the process at all. I'm certainly not an expert, but I find it super helpful to talk to others who are doing it too!

@Mrs. Turtle: Thank you so much! I don't know anyone in real life, personally doing this. Just some acquaintances in the past.

@Mrs. Turtle: Glad to know that's why you stopped blogging--I really was wondering where your posts had gone and kept thinking about you guys. Hope all is well with you and will be happy to read more about your journey if and when it seems right for you guys to share again.

@808love: Me neither. It was completely foreign to me-I've never known anyone involved in the system at all in real life. I still don't know many people, but have gotten to know a few and so appreciate the connections. I have super supportive family and friends, but none of them really understand so it's always nice to connect with people who are going through the same thing.

@WyattnewbabysMama: I know, I probably should figure out a way to write a post about it. I've considered continuing to blog without any photos, and using really vague information, but I love these kids and want to talk about them, so it's hard to figure out what is "safe" to write and what isn't. Maybe I'll try it again that way and see how it goes. I really enjoyed blogging for the short time I was doing it!

@Mrs. Turtle: Well whatever you decide to do, love to you both and those kiddos!

@Mrs. Turtle: I've been wondering about you guys too! I hope everything is going well. And thanks for the video, its really powerful. I hope to foster someday!

@psw27: @WyattnewbabysMama: Thank you both for the well wishes. We are doing great, still have the two babies (TODDLERS...almost), and life is crazy as usual. I so wish I could post pictures of the cuties so everyone could appreciate them. They are SO much fun and so cute together. Best buddies.

Amazing that you posted this today. Just yesterday I was watching videos of people's experiences with adoption with foster care. Ever since I met my husband, I felt the need to adoption a foster child. I feel so drawn to help our children. Thanks for sharing!

@bubblegum: Good luck! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, not that I'm an expert or anything, just have my own experience to share

@anonysquire: OMG! So exciting. I assume since you say match this is a child already cleared for adoption? We are still waiting for our adoption home study to be finalized. Takes forever!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Mrs. Turtle: yes, she is cleared for adoption. She doesn't have any family besides a brother who isn't a good candidate to adopt her. We will be fostering here for 6 months and at that point she will decide and we will decide if everything is a good fit and proceed with adoption!!! It isn't always an exciting thing to get a foster placement since the main goal is to get the kids back home if it's safe and possible, but we are fed excited to get her home!! She needs a home and a family!

@Mrs. Turtle: oh home studies!!! They take so long. But honestly the longest part of both of ours that we have done us been my fault. Filling out the papers, gathering all the forms, doctors appts. I hate it haha!!!

@anonysquire: That's incredible. When things are not going well and I'm frustrated with foster care, I wish we'd gone directly through adoptions, but we were really hoping to be placed with, and then adopt, an infant. So foster care it is. How old is the little girl? Do you know when she'll move in? I'm so excited for you! Also, feel free to wall me if you don't want this all public info.

@Mrs. Turtle: I for sure will!!! Thanks for offering. We plan on attempting to foster in about 5 years or so. My husband's family is full of adopted foster kids so we love our blended family and want to make a difference.

@anonysquire: oh me too. Such a pain. We are past all of that, finally, just waiting for the adoptions worker to finish writing it.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Mrs. Turtle: well I won't get too public, I don't have gold so it would still be on your wall. But she's a teen. It's going to new stuff for everyone involved. We were trying to adopt an infant privately in April and when I flew down for the birth, the birth mom decided to parent 36 hours after birth so it didn't work out. So then we moved back to foster care, which we had started out doing 3 years ago. So this girl is currently in the foster system but available for adoption. If that makes sense haha.

@Mrs. Turtle: oh that part too! Ours waited so long to write it which was fine, but it wasn't til the day before I left to go pick up a newborn that she told me that she had only done background checks in our state not federal. So we couldn't adopt out of state. So we had to rush federal background checks 3 day and it was a mess!!!! I'll be glad when I never have to do another home study or background check or fingerprint!!!!! So you have to do a whole other home study to adopt? The foster home study doesn't count?
blogger / pear / 1509 posts
@anonysquire: Yep, makes sense. I'd love to hear more if you feel comfortable emailing...you can get me at mrsturtle81@gmail.com

@anonysquire: totally separate home study. New finger prints, etc. Such a pain. Starting this year or next they combine the processes so it'll be all in one. But not soon enough for us. At least we are almost done with both now! Our adoptions worker has been fantastic so far so I'm hoping she will be on top of it. Especially since both of our foster cases are going long term, with possible adoptions referrals coming up soon.

I would love to foster to adopt someday. I'm not sure if it's in the cards for me with 4 kids already but it is always on my heart
