This story really hit me hard when I read it on the news. I have leaned over the back of folding seats many times to get things out of the back and never realized there was a danger of the seat snapping back and trapping me. I'm not sure if this is unique to honda or to minivans or all folding seats. But just wanted to share this info.
Its also sad because the teen was quick and voice activated his siri to dial 911 twice but due to misunderstandings within the emergency response he wasn't found on time.

That is really sad! I have a Dodge Caravan and I believe there are two (or 3?) latches that have to be pulled before the seat can go back like that.
Such a freak thing, so sad that they didn't get to him in time.

This story broke my heart! That poor boy. I was trying to understand exactly how it could have happened, but then watched a videoing demo-info what happened, and can totally see how this could’ve happened. Those seats are heavy!

@josina: yes i thought that a combination of latches have to be released to fold the seat did that confused me that this could happen. Next time i am in a minivan i will just walk around till the back and not lean over the back seat.
@Mrs. High Heels: yeah at first i couldn't understand how he was trapped in the car and couldn't get out. But i read the link i shared that showed how he got trapped -
Wow, that's really scary. I rarely do that because I'm not tall enough to reach. I'm def sending this to DH.
