I got to see my baby move around on an ultrasound a couple days ago! It was so amazing! I announced on Facebook that night.

@lilteacherbee: Aw! That's great! Aren't ultrasounds amazing technology? I'm always in awe of them.

@Dandelion: This is a great idea for a thread!!
Hmm, I haven't really had any "news" this week. It's been a nice, quiet week - just how I like them. I've had some amusing moments though.... hmm.....
Okay, so today I accidentally found myself walking a few steps in front of a procession of Hare Krishnas in our busy City centre. I felt like Moses as the crowd parted to let me/us through (when I say parted, I mean people veered away with a look of horror on their faces, flinging themselves into shop doorways in the hope of avoiding catching their gaze). Well, because the crowd were parting, leaving a nice gap for me - and them, of course - to walk through, they continued to follow closely behind me (and the crowd continued to part) for a good five minutes. I could hear drums banging, bells tinkling and the Hare Krishnas singing behind me but I couldn't see them - only the faces of the crowd, which were just priceless! Some were giggling, some were staring open mouthed, some looked positively terrified! I couldn't stop smiling by the end - it was the weirdest experience and tickled me to my core!!

This is a great thread, and I will totally revisit when I have some down time at work later today.
Honestly, it hasn't been a great week for me. But both yesterday and today I went for a run, and that felt pretty good! Today's eas during a spring rain storm, which always smells sooo good. I also decided yesterday that I was going to try to live in the moment instead of dwelling on sadness from the past or anxiety about the future. I think that will translate into some fun, short term summer projects, like painting our bedroom and running a 10K. So, for now, I'm having a good day

@LovelyPlum: Good decision! It's hard not to worry with all the awful stuff going on around us. But, all you can do is enjoy the moments that are good and continue on.

My friend gave birth to a beautiful son this morning, her first child! That was definitely a moment of happiness and light amid all this darkness, and I am so thrilled for her.

My good thing for this week is that I have today off of work! I also found out that I get to teach a summer school class, which means more money to save before the baby comes.

1. My best friend had IVF today and things went well so far. I'm praying for a BFP for her!
2. We are taking the dog to a "bark in the park" baseball game tonight (if it doesn't rain). I'm excited!

@mrs. 64: Yay for your friend! I wish her a happy POAS day soon! That's cool about the bark in the park! Is it a major league team, or minor?

I don't really have any "news". It's been sort of a crap week for me personally. But we had a really nice bit of time yesterday morning...DH got up with the boy so I could sleep in a bit, then made me a cup of coffee and all three of us lounged in bed for a while. DS was in a great mood and was giggling and climbing over us, and it was just...nice. Yesterday was my birthday and I can't imagine a better start to a new year.

@pui: Thank you! It was...this week has been so jaw-dropping horrible and I made an effort to be very present and savor a few minutes of complete peace with my family.

@Dandelion: Thank you! The bark in the park is at the college where hubs is getting his MBA. Our local minor league has one in May so if we have fun tonight perhaps we will check that one out as well.

@Dandelion: btw, I think you are right on about this being a tough week for a lot of people personally as well as for the country. I just logged on to FB for the first time in a few days, and holy moly, I was really surprised. So, thanks again for this thread. In times like these, it's so comforting to focus on the positive!

@mrs. 64: oooh, bark in the park! I think we're going to try to go to one this year, too. We almost did last year, but the pup was still a little too wild around other dogs. She's better now, though!

@MarieJ: Congratulations! My momma is a nurse, so I have a soft spot in my heart for them. I'm sure you'll do well!
