yayyy!!!!

I have had one of each now and having a boy first was definitely great for me. Boys are pretty simple, and they are quite rough and tumble, so even though LMW is very big and strong, handling her is nothing compared to what I had to do with my first. So I guess what I am saying is that having a boy really "broke me in" to parenting very quickly!

Also, you're not as tempted with all the cute clothes and accessories (basically the only boy accessory you will be able to purchase is hats) so you save a lot of money!! And hand-me-downs are less likely to be out of style so you can use a whole lot more. Clothing-wise in general, it's a LOT easier and simpler because there are less things to think about. For Wagon Jr. it was all about shirt, pant, sock, shoe, hat, jacket. That's IT. The only variables were long or short sleeves, long or short pants, casual or dress shoe, and the weight of jacket. So you can kinda go bananas and mix and match really easily, and stick with a style like preppy or sporty or hipster. With girls you have to think about tights vs. socks, skirts vs. pants, dresses vs. skirt/pant, type of shoe, and don't even get me started with the hats / headbands / hairclips. The choices are just endless and many times I get confused rather than excited for shopping!

Oh also, when it's potty time, you don't have to wipe for #1s which is a great timesaver. Haha.

Congrats! Boys love and snuggle their mamas so much (more in my experience than do girls)! You are going to have so much fun

DS is 5...will be 6 in August.

He's always been a Momma's boy, but I was a single parent from the time he was 15 months til he was 4.

He's SO down to earth...he's got his dramatic moments, but for the most part he goes with the flow pretty easily.

He's into Legos and it's pretty amazing that he can follow the directions so well. He's into Star Wars, Angry Birds, Superheros (He's really cute in his costumes!) and lots of "boy" things.

He's an animal lover. He's a true example of a boy and his dog...or his cat, lol. Stomps in every puddle he comes to, always has dirt in his ears and likes to build with blocks.

Seconding everyone who says that boys are little snuggle monsters to their moms. LO loves to snuggle with me and looks for me all of the time. As we say in our house, DH becomes "chopped liver" when I'm around.

Our boy LO was a surprise since we hoped for a girl for our first. He's been a huge surprise in general. So much energy and so many snuggles. It's been almost 9 months and I can't imagine not having a little awesome dude like him. He's sweet, happy, full of energy.

Haha, my son is not a snuggle monster with me, he's obsessed with my husband, so you just never know.

I love being a boy mom, it's full of surprises.

I've found DS prefers to snuggle with DH over me. Color me jealous! I agree with @mrs. wagon, you're going to save money on clothes! When I go shopping I notice a lot more cute clothes (not to mention options) for girls than boys. I was a little bummed at first but my wallet appreciates this. I've also always imagined being momma to a little girl but I love my boy so much!

I never thought I would be a good 'boy mom' but here I am loving every second. I can't imagine it any other way! He is such a mama's boy, is SO SILLY, I really do adore dressing him. My biggest worry though is raising him to be a gentleman - I feel like it is a really big job. What has been interesting to me the past 10 months is that I am so boy mom now - liking the super hero stuff, looking forward to legos. It is really really fun.

-Getting stuff we actually need at our shower vs. clothes
-Legos, bikes, trucks, dirt!
-Having a big brother to future LO's
-Apparently some excellent snuggles

DS is 9 months and he's the sweetest boy ever. He's full of energy and he's really tough. He rarely cries unless something really hurts. He's so curious about everything, I love watching him grow. He loves to play in the water and love to give open mouth kisses. He melts my heart daily.

My son is such a sweetheart. He is definitely a momma's boy. Hugs and kisses and snuggles all the time. But he's also just so funny and smart and GAH I love him.

I wanted a girl, so I can relate. But my son has taught me that you just can't squish people into boy/girl boxes. They're so much more.

I love being a mama to a boy! he's so much fun and loves to get dirty and be rough. I love seeing my husband talk about all the things he gets to do with his son when he's older. I loved seeing how excited he was when he found out we were having a boy(not that he wouldn't have been excited if he were a girl!)

and although, like @looch:, he much prefers DH, I can tell he looks for me sometimes and 'just wants his mommy'

@dagret: OMG! totally agree about wiping for #2's! we have to start 'practicing' since DD will be here in 3 short months haha

You sound just like me! These were my thoughts and concerns when we found out we were having a boy, because I'd always pictured myself raising girls. But I'm really excited now about a few things.

1. My (hopefully) future daughter having a big brother - I always wanted one.
2. Getting to see a mini version of my husband, and given his age, knowing I'll always have a piece of him even if something happens.
3. Getting to skip all of those girly, hormonal moments.
4. Hopefully seeing him rise to levels of excellence that girls have a harder time getting to (I hate the glass ceiling that does truly exist still in our business culture).
5. The fact that people say little boys are cuddle bugs who love their mommies. As a young child I was a total daddy's girl.

I have one of each, and I used to imagine myself as a mama to only girls (a lot of women run in my family so I'm very very comfortable with girls)...

But my 2nd is a boy... and I LOVE LOVE LOVE having a boy!! He is so easygoing and relaxed... not emotionally dramatic like my daughter. SO SWEET and huggable. I LOVE IT!!!

I was hell bent on wanting a girl...now? I have gone to the point where I told DH that I could be done because I'd be SO happy to just have boys and I don't know if I could handle the emotions of a pubescent girl! My hubs favorite argument for having a boy:

You only have to worry about one penis. When you have a girl, you have to worry about ALL of the penises.
