Tums isn't cutting it and I'd rather avoid Prilosec if I can.
What do you do to combat heartburn?

Pickles (and the juice) totally works! Or lots of water. Milk made it worse for me.

I second pickle juice (works for upset tummies too) but my go too is Apple Cider Vinegar. I drink it like tea, 1-2 tbsp of acv and fill the rest of the mug up with hot water.

this sounds backwards- but DH does this & swears by it. he puts lemon in all his water, like 1/4- 1/2 a fresh squeezed lemon in a big cup of water a few times a day. he says it alkalizes the body so you prevent the heartburn. i just googled it & there are a lot of articles on it, so he mustn't be too crazy =D

Pepcid and zantac unless I wanted to go to a prescribed medication. Nothing else came close to cutting it.

Zantac! Or/and cutting out acidic foods, like carbonated beverages, citrus juices, caffeine, chocolate, tomatoes, spices, onion, etc.

Uggghh I have never had heartburn until this pregnancy! So far milk or tums seems to be working well.

I usually just take Tums, or suffer through it.
@mrs. bird: Interesting! May need to try that, because I love lemon in water.

Apple cider vinegar, either take a tablespoon alone or put it in a cup of water. Works like a charm!
@mrs. bird: The lemon probably does the same thing the ACV does.

Zantac. But then I learned that the caffiene in coke was yhe culprit so I cut that out and no need for the meds.

Apple cider vinegar (1 T. in water), kombucha, and Chewable Papaya Enzyme.
Also, not drinking anything with meals helps a lot.
