This made me cry. What a good son for continuing to text his dad every 5 minutes. I read about it on cnn how the dad cradled his son when he was 1 year old when he heard about the Columbine shooting.

Now that I am a parent I wish I haven't always been so frustrated with my dad for always asking me to check in after a flight/long car trip etc.

Ugh, work crying.
I want my son to grow up in a country where there is gun control. I don't want to listen to people argue that his right to go to school safely is less than their right to own whatever gun they want. I don't want his teachers to be para-military. I want this sh*t to stop.

Wow. What a great kid, and so glad he's safe! I hate that school shootings are becoming a common occurrence these days. Hate, hate, hate.
Also, thank goodness for cell phones in instances like that. I'm sure his poor dad would have been going out of his mind, otherwise.

Wow such a beautiful story from such a tragic event. As a teacher every time a story like this comes out it hits me in the gut. When I read the news report on Friday I was in tears, and reading the 1 year stories from Sandy Hook... We practice lockdowns, but I dont know what I would do in a real lockdown! I hope that I never have to deal with a situation like this. My anxiety goes through the roof just thinking about it.

Oh man, so glad that kid was okay. As a parent I think I'd be so torn about texting! On one hand you want to know everything is okay, but on the other I'd be so worried the kid was hiding and the phone wasn't on silent and texting could put him/her in danger. I think I'd just sit there and stare at my phone obsessively hoping the kid texts me first.
