Have you heard of this? I recently saw an article posted on FB about it, and whilst it is a bit tongue in cheek and I would never go to quite these extremes in talking about my child, the underlying message was definitely one I can relate to!

The premise of the article is basically that second born children are far more challenging than their elder sibling - more stubborn, more mischievous, more difficult to manage, and generally just a bigger handful, BUT they are the most charming little people on the planet which makes up for it all!

This is my second LO exactly, and the same holds true for the vast majority of people I know IRL. I know with us, LO1 was such an easy, dream baby and child, we were patting ourselves on the back, thinking we had this parenting thing down.... Then LO2 came along and it was a whole different kettle of fish! She is the most charming, engaging, loveliest child, but holy cow does she give us a run for our money! I'm a second born as well and my mom just laughs as she says it is like reliving my childhood all over again, so I guess it was true with me as well (although I will say I became the peacemaker, calm, easy one by about five, so I'm hoping for the same with my LO2!)

Anyway, what has your experience been? Is your second child easier, more challenging, or about the same as your first? Do you think there is some merit to the 'curse' of the second born (I say 'curse' as we all know they are truly lovely children, it's just a tongue in cheek reference!)
