Serious question: Can I read this book? Seriously, am I going to be a complete weepy mess? Am I going to have to wake my daughter up in the middle of the night for extra hugs? Is it going to be worth it???
It's been on my Kindle for ages and I have not started out of weepy mess fears.... What's your honest take?

I just started it last night! I'm only on chapter 8, but it's been a good and fast read so far. I know it's going to get sadder... I can feel it, but no tears yet!

So you intrigued me and I went to read about this book - sounds really interesting! I requested it at my library - and get this - there are 223 requests before mine!! Yikes- it must be really popular! there are also 45 copies throughout our library system sooo maybe it won't take too long to get it.

I'm sure it will make me cry...I just finished Allegiant last night and sobbed all the way through the last 50 pages or so. Full on ugly cry. haha

I thought it was a good book and definitely had some sad parts but I didn't cry. I think id built it up too much because it wasn't as "ohmygosh amazing" or as sad as I expected.

I was a mess and I convinced myself I was dying of cancer....
Even though it made me cry - I didn't love it/think it was the best book ever, omg.

@delight: YES! Even though I knew what was going to happen I definitely ugly cried at Book Thief. I enjoyed that book way more than TFIOS.

I read it a few weeks ago and cried several times! My circumstances are likely very different than most others though...
Then after I finished the book I watched the trailer for the movie over and over and over again.

Okay. Done. I didn't ugly cry. At all, actually. There were a few parts where I shed a couple of tears, but that is pretty par for the course with me. I cry at car commercials. In fact, I think the Subaru commercial with the growing up daughter made me cry substantially more than this book. (Spoilers ahead) Maybe because I just knew it was going to be him (and not her) from the get go?
