Did anyone see the movie yet? I just saw it last night, and I really enjoyed it! What did you think of it if you saw it? I thought it followed the book pretty closely.

I am seeing it with some of my students on Sat--we just finished the book!

@Pepper: Did you see it in 3D? Would you recommend it 2D/3D? I have to decide what movie time to tell my kids!

@Mrs. J: I saw it in 2D. 3D gives me a headache sometimes, but it would be a cool movie to see in that format!

Loved it!
I will say it wasn't as amazing as I had expected - love the story, love Baz Luhrmann - but I still loved it and would see it again.
I didn't see it in 3D, we went to an early screening, and one thing that irritates me about 3D is that there are some visuals that are obviously done for 3D. It didn't take away from the scenes but was noticeable.

I can't wait to see it! It was my favorite book from high school English classes.

I saw it in 3-D and I thought it was really good! I had also made the mistake of reading a bunch of the reviews that had panned the movie, especially the 3-D, but I really liked it.

I haven't gone to watch a movie in forever, so been trying to decide if we should splurge and go see it. Is it that good??

@Boogs: I had pretty high expectations, and I enjoyed it! It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it's definitely one of the better ones I've seen in awhile. Did you read the book?

I passed on seeing it because of all the horrible reviews. Kind of regretting that now.

I saw it and really didn't like it. I love the book and the original movie, and I really loved BL's version of Romeo and Juliet...but I feel like the true Gatsby era is already SUCH a spectacle that even a modern interpretation didn't need to be so over the top and garish. While I didn't like what the they did with Gatsby, I still enjoyed seeing it (esp. as the countdown to my time with DH as a twosome is coming to an end!), so it was nice to go out on a date.
Also, regardless of not liking the interpretation, Leo will always be a hottie in my book--worth it to see his impish grin alone.
