@PrincessBaby: don't you know, you never look at the nutritional information of pie! it might as well not even exist -- you're not supposed to look!

@chopsuey119: We have a Marie Calendar's right near our house and it kills me! My husband and I go crazy when they have their twice a year pie sales. Pumpkin is my fave!!!

I just love pie. So, so much. I would rather have a birthday pie than cake. I think that on Thanksgiving, nothing is better than pumpkin. Heck, I would eat it year-round. I have only had pecan pie 2-3 times in my life, but MAN was it good. I may have to make one this year.
For several years my mom & I got fancy and made pumpkin cheesecake instead. We also always have pumpkin chocolate chip bread, which is super yummy.
And a big, fat YES to the fresh whipped cream! I love adding vanilla + the tiniest dash of cinnamon!

@PrincessBaby: *WHO* counts calories on Thanksgiving?! You're missin' out;)
@photojane: Exactly-I don't know why they even include it on the box...if you're eating pie: you should do so without asking questions. Ignorance is bliss;)
I voted pumpkin...but what I really meant was: pumpkin & vanilla icecream a la mode

Cherry pie is my favorite. As many times as I make the classic pumpkin and pecan pies, when I make a cherry pie too it is the first one to be finished, even without my help.

@TurtleDoves: @photojane: It's my food guilt! I look up everything- it drives me nuts! And once I know how terrible something is, it's hard for me to let it go- even on Thanksgiving:) I am a nutball, I know.

I love it all BUT for years the kids got ice cream turkeys from Baskin Robbins. I loved those an therefore considers myself a kid until sometime in grad school!

Coconut custard is my fav. I eat pumpkin pie throughout the fall season, so that never gets old. But for special occasions, coconut custard is so good.

My favorite is an Italian cookie we make from scratch called (forgive my spelling because I'm sure it's a local word) Ciarde/ Charde/Chalde. They are anise and Sambucca cookies made on an iron like a pizzelle, but then we roll the them up while they are hot to set. My family likes to put whipped cream on them, but purists like me eat them as is! Soooo good after our ravioli dinner!

Apple pie, for sure. I've never loved pumpkin (I wish I did, it seems so...seasonal), and French silk can get too sweet for me. Looove some warm apple pie though!
