Still brainstorming and my husband brought up the name Fitz. I think its pretty cute however I don't like any of the full names... What do you think?

I know a Fitzy! I thought it was odd at first but it totally grew on me and I love it now. They had given him a more professional first name in case he didn't want to always go by Fitz

First thing that come to my mind is scandal. But I'm terrible. Haha.

@knittylady: ha I've been google searching it and everything popping up is scandal!

I think of the band - Fitz and the tantrums. I never really thought of it as a name. But I like how it's not common.

@polkadots: It just reminds me of the President on Scandal!

It just reminds me of Scandal and Carl from Ghost!

I don't dislike it, but I would just think it was a nickname for someone with the last name Fitzgerald. Those are the only people I've ever heard of being called Fitz.

I don't dislike it. However, for me personally, it falls into the "totally cute for a kid, but can't imagine it on a resume" zone. I had a lot of trouble with this when we were naming DD, as there were several names I loved that fell into this category. I think Fitzgerald is nice for an adult, but I understand if you don't dig it.

I also thought of Scandal immediately ! But if you really like it, chances are Scandal won't be around anymore in a few years?

I think it's so cute! But I like the whole name, Fitzgerald. I don't really like "Fitzy" as a nn though.

We've talked about using Fitzpatrick as a middle name and calling him Fitz. DH's family is big on juniors, and we like it as a less literal nod to DH (since Fitz means "son of" and the second half is DH's name).

I like it! I thought of Pretty LIttle Liars first since they call him Mr. Fitz

I like it, especially as a nn for Fitzgerald! I met a little boy named Fritz once too - so adorable!

reminds me of scandal too, but the show will be off the air by the time your lo grows up!

I learned it means "son of," so, Fitzpatrick was once the son of Patrick.
I wouldn't use it unless there was a family connection, especially shortened.

@LuLu Mom: Haha, me too! And now he's creeping me out, so it makes me not love the name.
I think it could be a cute name - and possibly transfer well into an adult name. In 20 years his generation won't know about PLL and Scandal

My brother had a pet rat named Fitz... so I sort of associate it with being a "pet" name.

@looch: That's what "Mac" means too.
I don't really like it. I've only ever heard it as a nickname with someone whose last name starts with it. And I think the names that start with it (Fitzgerald, Fitzgibbons, etc) are all too last name-y.

That's our silly nickname for the baby since it rhymes with our last name.
I think I like it better as a real name when it's short for something. I can't quite picture "Fitz" across the top of a resume, but something like Fitzgerald or Fitzpatrick would grow well.

I like it as a nn but definitely can only picture one thing when I hear it -- the president on Scandal.

@polkadots: DH's grandfather was Frederick and he went by Fritz...which is kind of close to Fitz
