To your point people will still drink tailgating is a safe way to drink. People are not drinking and driving. They park and drink. I have never been to a real tailgate, but they look fun on TV.

Tailgating is a part of the game!

I have no problems with tailgating in principle, I'm a football fan, and love watching games with fellow fans!

My only issue with it was when I lived in the city, a few blocks from both the baseball and football stadiums. Unfortunately my fellow football fans were just So. Inconsiderate. I honestly just think that they regarded the entire downtown area as a type of playground, and not a residential area. I once had a couple of pickup trucks parked outside of my bedroom window at 9am on a Sunday getting their tailgate on early. I was fuming- if I had gone to their suburban cul-de-sac at that time and sat around getting wasted at the end of their driveway, they would have called the cops on me!

As long as there are dedicated tailgate areas where fans can go, and they don't completely trash the area (unfortunately another problem we've been dealing with), then I'm all for it! Have fun! Cheer on your team! But please be respectful!

we're Canadian and we love tailgating culture so much, we travelled to American cities renowned for tailgating (like Buffalo!) just to join in. major killjoy to eliminate tailgating. I swear they are trying to make the world less and less fun.

Growing up in NJ we tailgated EVERYTHING. Actually before a Guster concert some of the band members came out (first on bikes then with security and their wives in golf carts) and were like uhhh what are you guys doing. We were like... tailgating? And then gave them hot dogs.

I get that especially at sports games, it can get a little out of hand. But if they didn't allow it, people going to the games would "tailgate" at home or nearby, and then potentially DRIVE to the stadium, which I see as more of a risk. I don't think people would say "Oh I guess we'll go to the game sober" or "let's buy all our beers there and spend literally hundreds on booze." If anything, tickets would be impacted. So not a smart decision in my opinion at all!

I feel like I have two answers, in direct contradiction to each other, lol. If you told me the stadium was in walking distance to my house, I'd be freaking out and wouldn't want tailgaiting to be allowed.

In general, I have no problem with it, as long as it isn't in close proximity to my house, lol.

I do think idiots who are disrespectful and inconsiderate is what drives others into wanting to ban it! I def agree that I rather people drink after they've arrived, and not before and then drive.
