Anniston? DH really likes this name and we've been searching high and low for names that incorporate family names that we're working with. In this case, we're trying to use the name Ann to honor a grandparent.
Does it make you think too much of Jennifer Aniston?

Not into it. Immediately thought of Jennifer. Is this for a boy? If a girl, there are a lot of girls' names that can include Ann. My sister's name is Suzanna and she was named after a relative named Anna... Annabelle, Annalee, etc.
If it's a boy, it's a little more challenging but Andrew and Anderson pop into mind.

I immediately think of Jennifer Aniston, and I think most of our generation would. But your daughter's friends likely won't know who that is.

yeah I do think of Jenn, but I don't think she'll be as relevant to our kids' generation, so with that in mind, i think it's an ok name.

I didn't think of Jennifer at all, but I am not 100% in love with it and how it rolls off the tongue as a first name either.

I think it works. People might think of Jennifer off the bat, but really kids tend to own their names pretty quickly.

I'm not into frilly names at ALL unless they are middle names so Annabelle and Annalee (which we have contemplated for a middle name and I do really like - it incorporates the other name we need to include) are totally out. And just Ann is too plain.
@Truth Bombs: That's a great point. My daughter's first name is the name of an older actress and everyone that's 50+ always mentions that when they discover her name but the younger generation doesn't seem to get that vibe at all - it would likely be similar for her when she is an adult.
@BabyTsMom: Again, hadn't thought of that fact (I tend to get focused on the present hehe) so that's a very relevant point.
@runnerd: DH says we'd call her Annie if we used the name. Full name would be Anniston Lee.

I love ALL feedback. We're still contemplating left and right over here - I feel like my possible name list grows by the day and we're getting NOwhere. Eeek. Poor baby girl.

@QBbride: I'm not sure I do either but am trying to let DH be the one to have more of a pick with this one - I've pretty much chosen our first two kid's name and he went along with them (middle names included, eeek...he was very generous to me).

I'm rooting for Sloane Annalee/Annabelle but I don't remember if you even liked Sloane. It just goes so well with the other names!

@cookiemomster: I do like Sloane but DH likes it better and it's still on his list! Again, this one is going to be more up to him than up to me so long as it incorporates family so I'm just listening to his picks (well, and feeding him LOTS of ideas - I sent him a list of about 20 today haha) and I'm trying not to shoot down any of the names that he mentions without giving them due consideration. I will definitely have veto power but am trying to let him curate his own "list" and then will shoot down any that I just can't see until we hit the one. He also likes Quinn, Rowan, Sloane, and now Anniston. Which is interesting because now that I see it typed out they all include "N" sounds.

@AprilFool: No, it makes total sense. That's exactly how I feel. I like unusual names, and I like last name first names, but I just don't know that I can picture this on a daughter. I've been thinking about it all night.

Anniston totally makes me think of Jen, so not a fan but it immediately made me think of Anisette.
I like the way it sounds. Its French and admittedly the name of a type of licorice liquer (like Ricard and Pernod), but it's really pretty!

I don't love it :-/. One because of the Jennifer Aniston association, and two because it feels a little made up. It's so unusual think you'll always be explaining it and spelling it.

I think of Anniston, AL because of the spelling (and because we're in Georgia, I guess). I think it's pretty! I'm sure people will think of Jennifer Aniston, but that seems like less of an issue if you use a nickname.

Check this out. a list of all names that include "ann" in them. Maybe try to put the ann at the end of the name?

As a middle name, it's okay. I don't really like it as a first name. But if YOU love it, go for it! I'm sure there are plenty of people who think the names I pick for my kids are off the wall.

I would think it was a boy. I like unisex names but Anniston doesn't read unisex to me.

@ShootingStar: I already spell my current daughter's name daily so that's a good point. In fact, we just got an invite today with it spelled incorrectly yet again today - drives me crazy.
@Smurfette: Too girly for a first name for our list (especially when put with my daughter's - not modern enough) but incorporates what we need/want in a middle name so I'm adding it to the middle name list.
@T.H.O.U.: Oh my goodness those are all sooo girly haha - my husband would shoot them down immediately. Hence why when I send him a list of 20 names maybe ONE is even a contender. And I'm trying to broaden my own tastes for him!
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I do like the boyish/unisex feel and that it has a more girly nick name (Annie) possibility while still being more unisex. That's the thing keeping it on the list for now for me. I'm not sure why he likes it BUT now that you mention it reminds you of Anakin, I have to wonder if my Star Wars buff husband has thought of that!

I'm realizing we hit the name jackpot with my daughter in that we found something we both really loved and that fit what we were looking for in a more modern unisex name. As we climbed into bed last night, DH sighed and said he doubted we'd have a name for this child before she's born considering that we've literally gone over a bajillion names in the last few months. (We've only known she was a girl two weeks but we've both suspected she was a girl since conception so most name talk was centered around girl names.) I tend to agree with him but also am realizing that the likelihood of both of us loving the name is going to be slim to none this go around. One of us will probably have to give.

I would think you're either a big Jennifer Aniston fan, or it was your maiden name. Anniston to incorporate the name Ann is not the direction I'd head in.
