    Wow. I wonder if that changed the view of anyone who used her as a reason not to get vaccines for their kids.

    @MrsSCB: This exactly. She is so dangerous! This is one issue that really makes me furious.

    I think this is such a touchy subject. I don't have a baby (just yet), but we've already spent a lot of time researching & learning about vaccines.

    I think it's in poor taste to make memes about it, though. I mean, if it was a RARE condition he has (with all of the signs of autism), then it's not too far off base to assume he had autism in the beginning, right?

    I think most of us would be advocates for our children, no matter what, so I guess I don't really blame her.

    There are many people who hear "Jenny McCarthy", "autism", "vaccine", "bad", and base their decision to not vaccinate on JUST that. I think anyone who makes big decisions based on doing NO research is an idiot. No matter what you believe, you better have a LOT of reason behind it, especially when it comes to your babies!

    I wish people did more research ... I wish vaccines were 100% safe ... I wish everyone had a pediatrician who respects little bodies (in regards to vaccines). I think that would help calm a lot of this vaccine hysteria! We are pro-vaccine, but on a schedule that our pediatrician recommends.

    @MsLipGloss: Have you read this article? It mentions McCarthy and discusses "Chicken Pox Parties" among parents who choose not to vaccinate. Pretty interesting!

    @Vegmama: What's really in poor taste is not being honest when presented with additional information, and continuing to mislead people to believe that there is more danger than there really is . . . all in an effort to what, save face? We're talking about lives here--children's lives. I can't think of any better reason to provide as many facts as possible instead of fear mongering to push some agenda that should have long ago been widely, and very publicly, debunked.

    @rahlyrah: I had not seen that article - thanks for sharing!

    What's sad is that even after the correlation between vaccines and ASD was debunked, parents still chose to abstain from vaccinating their children to avoid the "risk" of autism. Even with the media attention this story is likely to receive, there will still be a plethora of parents who link vaccines to autism, and sinilar developmemtal disorders and delays. It's a dangerous, and infuriating thought, but it's quite prevalent.

    @MsLipGloss: Agreed.

    @Vegmama: When it comes to children, we all wish everything could be 100 percent safe, but that's just not realistic. Vaccines are not 100 percent safe and will never be -- it's all about risk/benefit analysis. But listening to anything this woman has said about vaccines is 100 percent dangerous. Not only is she completely unqualified to discuss medical matters, but she also refuses to recant anything she's said, even in the face of hard facts. I would agree that anyone who makes a decision about vaccines based only on what Jenny McCarthy says is an idiot, but that doesn't change the fact that people ARE doing that, and it's putting lives at risk. That's why I think she has a responsibility to speak up.

    @deerylou: Exactly. It's sort of like accusing someone of being a molester or a rapist . . . even though they may be cleared of charges, the negative stigma will forever be associated with them.

    I am surprised that it took 6 months for this to hit mainstream media after it first came out. I was writing angry letters to the View, Jenny McCarthy etc when the information was first brought out months ago. The woman is an idiot, and I am just waiting for someone to sue her.

    Jenny McCarthy released a statement on Twitter that her son was in fact diagnosed with autism. I disagree with her strongly & think it's irresponsible to not vaccinate, but I think she has been overly vilified.
