My friend is pregnant with her first baby - twins! Because of scheduling we were going to have her shower when she is 33.5 weeks along. Is that too late for a mom of multiples? She has no known complications but is only like 15 weeks now.

I'm not a twin mom, but that seems like it's cutting it kind of close. Aren't twins generally expected to arrive around 36ish weeks? And the mom will want time to get any last minute items after her shower...

I had my singleton shower at 32 weeks and thought that was on the late end of normal. I would try to plan her shower from weeks 28-30 so she has plenty of time to organize stuff before her twins arrive.

I agree with the other ladies, it sounds late to me. The sets of twins I know arrived at 30 weeks, 33 weeks and 35 weeks, so I'd try to plan it earlier. Mom will need time to organize and pick up any remaining items after the shower.

I think it's better to have the shower before the 3rd trimester.

That sounds late even for a non multiple pregnancy. I would def move it up to between 28-30 weeks at the latest.

I would also plan it earlier. I had my two showers with a singleton at 28 and 32 weeks.

That sounds late to me. I'm only having one baby and my two showers were at 30 weeks and 32 weeks.

I had mine around 29 weeks, I think? It was a good time, 33 weeks could be pushing it but hopefully will be fine.

My 2nd shower (for twins) was right before 32 weeks and it was too much for me. I tried to take it easy, but it really wore me out. I ended up having a lot of contractions that night and at my dr appt the next week my cervix had shortened considerably and I was put on bedrest. I would shoot for 27-30 weeks if at all possible.

That is kind of late! My office had a baby shower planned for a co-worker's wife (she used to work with us too) at like 31 weeks, and the twins ended up being born the week before.

Thanks! I'm not the one hosting my other friend is and was asking my opinion. I said I think it's late but basically with the summer months it seems to be the only option....we'll see!

@winniebee: that's too late, I think. I had a healthy twin pregnancy, and my two hour long shower at 27 weeks sucked the life out of me, but I enjoyed it! That's the key. BeFore third tri.

I had mine at the end of September for a November 30th 40 week due date. It was great timing. I was 30-ish weeks I think? I was still comfortable, but definitely huge, so I got great pictures of the big ole bump.

@meganmp: @twodoghouse: My sisters are planning me one when I go home in July. I'll be 27 weeks.
Hoping my OB will approve airplane travel at that point.
