H did this! Eventually she got used to it and she doesn't really cry in it anymore. She is actually passed out in it right this second from our earlier car ride:)

Oh the worst was she would be okay if we were on the highway, but she cried at every single red light!!!!!

@Smurfette: Oh at just 3 weeks, I think she'll get way better by the time you go to work! H was a hot mess about the car seat for the first couple of months, but the more we used it, the more tolerable it became...

@Smurfette: if you are with someone else I would suggest sitting in the back with her until she gets more used to it. I would whisper/sing right in LO's face when she cried in the car and she would always calm down. Also... Do you have a mirror? We have one with a light that plays music and she likes to check herself out in there.

My son hates being in his car seat, too! I try putting toys he can reach for and putting on classical music for him to listen to. The good thing is that he will cry; however, once the car starts moving he usually calms down and will sleep instead. I'm trying to get out with him more so that he gets use to being in the car seat more often. I'm glad to hear that he will grow out of it, can't wait.

My LO never had a problem with the infant seat but it was a rough adjustment period to the convertible seat...she hated it!

Repetition! My LO would foam at the mouth he'd scream so hard so we went out every day for a month and he got over it. Once he was old enough giving him a taggie blanket to play with while in there helped a lot and a you hanging from the handle- the Lamaze dragonfly has a ring they can hold on to!

My son cried almost every time, then around 3-4 months, he got used to it. So much easier to go places now! I always sat in the back with him. For longer trips, I pumped a bottle to give him in case he started crying.

I thought the day would never come where DS would be okay in his carseat for longer periods, but that day did come, and it was so gradual, I don't think I noticed when exactly, but he was probably 5 or 6 months. He's so quiet in the car nowadays, a far cry from the earlier months where NOTHING would console him, especially not my singing. Hahahaha.

@banana: Seriously, I couldn't have asked for a better baby. He sleeps well, eats well, is so calm and sweet! I love him so much!
