I think she's making the decision herself! LOL She's been a very challenging baby and I don't think we can handle working full time and keeping up with two babies!

We just don't think we can afford to provide a lifestyle that we would like to provide for our lo if we had more than one. We would be stretched beyond our means when it came to daycare so, it wouldn't work. We don't live paycheck to paycheck and don't ever want to. If we had another - we probably would.

I'm 35 and my husband is 39. This plays a factor in our decision, as well. If we were to have two, we would want our first to be able to be a baby for a while. We have a 5 1/2 month old and I cannot imagine having another right now. I wouldn't want to rush another one out just to have another. If we had another, I would want them 2-3 years apart. By then, we would be in our late 30's, early 40's. I feel like that's too old for us.

Oh, also - we have a really good baby. I don't know if I could handle having a not so good baby after how easy she has been. Maybe she'll turn into a holy terror when she gets older but for now? Easy baby. Is that backwards? Don't people normally want another baby when they have an easy one? Maybe I'm just being logical about it.

We are 99% sure we are only having one because we don’t have any desire (at least right now) to have another child. We love and adore LO and we’re good spending all of our time, attention and money on only her – we feel like a complete family. Also, we don’t want to spend our entire lives raising babies! We want to get back to traveling, having time to/for ourselves, etc. It sounds selfish I know, but I don’t know how else to put it.

My husband and I feel that it’s a parent’s responsibility to significantly help pay for college, and we want to provide a certain lifestyle for ourselves and LO. We can fairly easily save significant money for college for LO, retirement for us, saved money for travel, home, and other things. To think about saving for more than 1 college education is a little bit daunting, especially when I've still got student loans!

My husband is 47 and I’m 31 and at this point in life; I think we would like to start planning for all the fun things we will do with LO, and the fun things we’ll do as a couple once LO is old enough to spend several days/overnights at Camp Grandparents.

@mandb36: "I think he's also just frustrated when she has trouble sleeping though" Haha, yeah….that’s a big part of it too for us! LO is an easy baby now IMO, but at first she definitely wasn’t. Thinking about caring for a toddler while working full time and dealing with a colicky infant makes me dizzy. Yup, I think we’ll stick with 1!

Like PP's, we plan on only having one child for financial reasons. We love to travel and want to be able to travel the world with our LO, which is a lot more feasible financially with only one child. We also live in the city so we need to afford private school, a car eventually, and college. We also want to maintain our current lifestyle where we can shop and eat out whenever we want.

Also, now that I am pregnant, I am sure that I never want to deal with this morning sickness nonsense again!

We're already older and so firstly we don't feel that having a second is feasible for us. Also with our temperaments, we just feel that one suits us really well.

@mandb36: I love the idea of my son being 18 when I'm 40 too! And I know I won't be able to have a second close to the first (money, time, etc) so if/when I have another one it will be a vast age difference...

Money is a huge issue for us, but I'm not sure I could have just one. I also know my family would flip if we did

I have two...but, for the first 2 years of my son's life I wanted to devote all my attention and effort on him--DH and I thought for sure we were one and sone. Then by the age of 2, he became more independent and baby fever started to creep up on me. I wanted him to have a sibling as well since my sisters are my best friends.
