I've already blogged about it and Facebooked it, but it feels like a really big deal!
I wish he could come home today or magically start eating all his feeds, but he's nearly 6 1/2 pounds now and it will be soon.
(In case you don't know, Dylan was born at 25 weeks - he's 3.5 months old now!)

my friend's son was born at 25 weeks -- he was 1lb 12 oz and now he is HUGE and in third grade and doing really, really well -- he loves to play sports (especially golf!) and is in the gifted and talented program. his little sister was born at 27 weeks this summer and is now 6 months and doing quite well, too!
hang in there -- he'll be home soon!

@Mrs. Cowgirl: I would love for Dylan to play golf! And having another micro premie is my biggest nightmare - although we won't try again. I'm glad both of your friends' kids are ok.
@.twist.: It doesn't depend on size, but on feeding. He has to be able to take all of his feeds by bottle. He's about a third of the way there, but it could happen any time.

Wow, it feels like forever ago that you were taken into hospital and had Dylan (of course, it was 3.5 months ago!!). It really brings it home just how prem he was when you think that today is your due date!! It's amazing that he's grown so well - I can't wait for you to take him home! Not long now!!!

I'm glad to hear he's doing well! My twins were born at 33 weeks 4 days & we weren't able to bring them home until they were taking the breast or a bottle for all their feedings. They were in the hospital for a month as they were having issues with the suck, swallow, breathe concept. It went from them not taking very many bottles to them having all bottles within a week. I went to the hospital as usual one day & they asked me where my car seat was as Liam was ready to go home the next day.
I know it's hard visiting the hospital so much since you just want him home (I started to really hate going to the hospital, but I wanted to see my boys). Hopefully he'll be home soon!

I remember when LO was struggling getting his feeds up and then one day it just clicked and he started taking all of his feedings. We then had a jaundice set back and I remember crying was the doctor told me LO would have to go under the lights again and that would delay his release. I cried the entire day. BUT the next day I got to the hospital, the lights were off, LO was in clothes and he was in an open crib and they asked me where the carseat was for the carseat challenge. So, I know it's rough but I promise it will happen and that will be the best day of your life!!

He's made so much progress over the last few months - this is a huge milestone for him! I hope you guys found a way to celebrate! And he will be home with you, where he belongs, very very soon. I'm with @sorrycharlie - did you pick his outfit?

Reaching your due date is a huge deal! He's making such great progress and before you know it he'll be home and become one of those, "I know someone whose baby was born at 25 weeks and he's doing great" kind of stories! Congrats to all of you on making it this far! I'm sending lots of wishes for him to get to come home soon!
