When did you give a pillow to you LO? What kind did you get/do you recommend?

We gave DS a pillow when we transferred him to a big boy bed at 2.5, we never used a toddler bed. I just ordered a travel sized pillow on amazon. He didn’t use it at first but eventually started to.

@LadyDi: my friend gave her son a pillow at 2 and said it was a game changer with being able to fall back to sleep with earl wakings. He would cuddle into the pillow.
We introduced at 3 yr 2 mo along with toddler bed.

@Clementine12: 18 months he had a pillow and his stuff animals in his crib. He still has them and he’s 2yo. He likes his rocking chair pillow and I bought a toddler pillow off amazon for him too. A lot of options on Amazon.

@Clementine12: we just got one of those mini pillow pets from amazon. I let DS pick out the animal so he was excited. It is soft and pretty flat compared to an actual grown up pillow. We don’t use a pillowcase but they are washable.

I ended up just giving both of my kids normal, standard pillows when they were two-ish. I was overwhelmed by the options for toddler pillows and figured if they were ready for a pillow, standard would be fine.

@Clementine12: I think we got one for DS around 2.5. The important thing is that you dont want one too thick because it can strain their little necks. We initially got one from amazon just searched "toddler pillow," but didnt use it long because I got him a new bed set. So, I went to Target and got him the thinnest and most firm pillow I could find. It's worked perfectly.

We didn't give DD a pillow until 3.5, but mainly because she didn't want one until then. I think we tried around 2.5 but she tossed it out of her crib. So we waited until she asked. We gave her a very thin standard size pillow.

I just grabbed a spare one off the guest bed. At 3.5, she has never used anything other than an adult pillow.
