I don't have LO's yet, sooo my pets are my "babies" 
DH and I took our 9 month old chocolate lab/blue heeler mix swimming on Saturday. Kind of "swimming" it was in a stream near our house in a park. The stream was probably about knee deep, but probably up to his head in other areas! We are so proud of him! He's normally very timid around new things, but when we were walking along the path, he darted, and ran right into the water!!! he loooved it!!
Does your dog/dogs like water??

My dog's only experience with water is the time she was running near a pool at night and because of some shadows, thought the sidewalk continued where it didn't and ran straight into the water. She freaked the eff out, but really, can you blame her on that one?

@LizSmith: awww!!! poor thing must have been scared!!! Thank goodness all dogs pretty much know how to swim already!

@MrsBrewer: I know! But she couldn't figure out how to steer, so she just swam in circles. I had to go in the pool in my clothes and get her. ^_^

Cute! My dog loves to "swim" too. And by swim I mean he goes into the water up to his nose and stands there.

I love it!! Seriously u must have been so stoked! I felt like such a proud parent went our fur baby went into the water...then we filmed it when he started swimming longer distances. So proud..haha but seriously love that your baby loves water!

we haven't tried to take our pugs swimming because they would probably refuse to touch the water. or drown.

So cute!!! I wish my dog loved the water. I have a Golden Retriever so you would think that he would love it, but he doesn't 
I think part of it is because when he was younger, DH kind of forced him to go in the pool and he got scared. I swear he still remembers...

So fun! when we go to my parents house we cant keep our Lab/hound mix out of the water. He thinks hes the life guard and has to "rescue" anyone that jumps in off the diving board

Our dog loves the water-but only when her feet can still touch the bottom! I don't think she realizes she knows how to swim-one of these days I need to wade out in the water with her to get her to deeper water to force her to swim. I think she would love it if she knew she could swim!

@mrskc: awww that's what we were told! I can't wait to bring him to a lake so he can really swim!
@Chillybear: that's hilarious about him being the lifeguard!! My dog was just more interested in getting everyone else wet. Especially if I was standing on the edge, he would make sure to shake and get me all full of mud and water!
