My baby has been heads up since at least 28 week. During my last appointment at 36 weeks he was still heads up so my OB scheduled a ECV. My ECV was suppose to be today but it turns out that my baby is not only breech but he's transverse oblique.
They told me that means he's sideways with spine towards me and his face is facing outward. They do not do ECVs on transverse babies. They called this an unstable position.
I was sent home. They did say that since he's transverse there is nothing stopping him from going head down on his own because unlike other breech babies that have their butts stuck in the cervix, he can move freely to head down if he "wants".
On a side note... they said they if there is enough fluid they will try to do ECV on my c-section date to see if they can get him head down and if that works they will induced right away for possible vaginal birth. If it doesn't work they will just ahead with the c-section.
I am now almost 38 weeks (will be on Wednesday). Was anyone transverse this late in the game and have their kid turn head down on their own?
The doctor said given what she saw today ... she gave me a 50/50 chance he will go head down on his own which is about the same chance they had to putting him head down with an ECV. So she was being nice by saying I am no worst off than before! Haha.
though I will say those breech baby moves from spinning babies really worked. She would keep flipping back to transverse, I would do the moves before an ultrasound and she would get in the right position. Try it out!
