Is there really a necessity to purchase/register for a complete travel system stroller like this one:

or can we just live with registering for a car seat thats compatible with this:

& just using that? What is the difference?!

For the same price of a travel system, we registered for the carseat and base that we wanted (Chicco Key Fit), along with the stroller (Jeep) that my husband absolutely had to have.
I looked them up in Baby Bargains to check what was compatible and highly rated, and decided to do our own thing. The cloth doesn't match 100%, but I really don't care about that- we are trying to go as minimal as possible with all of the baby gear. Our house is small and we already feel overtaken.

Most strollers will have car seat adapters (little metal things) that let you click the seat into whatever stroller you really want. Personally I don't like the snap & go's because it's $100 you're spending on something that has a short life and that $100 you can put towards a stroller that you can use even after they grow out of the infant car seat.

@venice4504: I was just thinking the same thing. I just checked on the stroller frame that Mama Yoyo posted about and it costs over £200 here! I get doing the frame thing to save money, but I just don't see how it would.

we used the snap and go and loved it, and then sold it and recouped half the cost, so it was totally worth it.
some people are really happy with their travel systems. but getting a snap and go lets you figure out exactly what your stroller needs are before you make a huge investment.

@Mrsbells: We have it all put together and have taken a couple of dry runs with it getting the dog used to walking with a stroller- but have yet to try it with the actual baby since we are still waiting on him to arrive

We just figured since the carseat fits right into the stroller, that it would be equal to a snap and go, and since we will eventually need a full sized stroller anyway- why not save money and space!? It folds up to a manageable size too- smaller than our swing. I wish I could easily post a photo of it right now sitting folded in the nursery.
My husband's co-worker has one and loves it, as well as a few friends of my SIL and also a family we ran into at Ikea- so far only fantastic reviews. We got the Jeep Liberty model btw.

@MegWag: yikes at that cost it isn't worth it! i paid around $60, but could have easily bought one used for around $25.

We got the latter and are waiting until our LO is older before we plunk down a real stroller.
