I am 9.5 weeks today and had originally planned to go to Asia this upcoming week. We had a scare 2 weeks ago with some spotting but all is well. Baby is good. Should we cancel the trip?

Unless your doctor tells you to, then no way! Go! I don't have any experience with travelling while pregnant but I do know that during the first trimester, I was EXHAUSTED to the nth degree. I could fall asleep standing up, fall asleep at work, even! My sleepiness affected my mood, too. I would definitely go ahead with your trip but plan for some serious rest (especially with jet-lag).

how are you feeling? there is no way i could have gone to asia with my m/s - i felt like such crap i didn't want to leave the house. but if you're feeling fine, go for it! i think it's safe up until the end of the 2nd trimester or something.

I went to Egypt when I was about 7 weeks, I asked my OB about it and he said there was no reason not to go, just be careful about staying hydrated and eating food away from the resort.

I wonder about this too for when I get pregnant. I travel internationally all the time for work, and not to resorts either! Mostly third-world countries. I mean, I live in one too... but when I'm home I know where and what's safe. When I'm traveling it's hard to be as careful.

I actually went to Cancun for my best friends wedding without knowing I was pregnant (only 4 weeks at the time). Then about 3 weeks after that was another friends wedding in Aruba that we had already booked, so we went anyway. Just as long as you stay hydrated during your flight, try to walk around every 2 hours to keep blood circulating, it should be ok (unless doc says no go, then I'd listen to the doc). We also went to Europe for a 2 week wedding anniversary trip when I was 21 weeks and since it was a long flight, I bought compression knee high socks to keep blood from pooling. SO said one of the biggest risks is blood clots, so I wore those and he woke me up every 2 hours to walk around for 15 minutes.

you should be find to travel if you feel up to it. i went to the cayman islands a 16 weeks, but that was in my second trimester when i was feeling better. like elisat suggested, get some compresion stockings and get up frequently and walk around and you should be ok!
