@Crystal: I have never waited. But I suppose I do like to end the worthless hopeful anticipation sooner rather than later. So then I will test early and just decide if I want to do it on a morning when DH is home, or one where he is not.

@Snowdrop: That's great you think you found a place you can go to. Do you mind sharing what kind of a place it is? Is there any reason you can't go to a gyno provided through your insurance and discuss your LP issue at your annual well woman exam?
pear / 1846 posts
@MrsMcD: in England you have to go through your GP for everything, I've never seen a gyno and she won't reffer me unless I'm not ovulating or I have PCOS until we've been trying two years, and then it's basically for an IVF waiting list. We don't have annual exams here, you just go o the doc when you are sick.
This is the place I have found http://lifefertilitycare.co.uk/
It's not for profit and they focus on fixing the problem instead of bypassing the problem, they also are very proactive about preventing miscarriage once you do get pregnant. Just talked to DH about it and he has agreed that it would be a god idea to book in for the free 20min consultation. It's just a chat about whether you are suitable and what they can offer.
I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

@Snowdrop: It sounds like you have have found a great option and I'm glad your DH is on board. And gees... no annual well woman exams?? I suppose no health care system is perfect...
pear / 1846 posts
@MrsMcD: they get away with it with a 'this is free, be grateful' attitude but really it isn't free, we pay taxes for it and have quite a high prescription charge!
grapefruit / 4028 posts
@MrsMcD: I tried that method this last month, and it was awful to see those BFNs day after day, but I think worse to not be expecting AF. At least I was surprised when it showed up!
Did you pick a day to test? So excited for you!
@Snowdrop: That is so frustrating they aren't referring you to a OBGYN when you obviously need to see one! And that program looks amazing, I really hope you can get some answers and something to address the problem, not put a bandaid on it.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@Snowdrop: Hoping that program works out!
Tonight has been a little frustrating. I had to go to SIL's birthday dinner and she is one of the most annoying people I have ever met. She married my brother 6 months ago. She asked me who was a good fertility specialist for a friend. (I have some professional contacts, so it is reasonable to think I might know but still awkward and annoying. No one knows we're TTC, but we have been married 4 years.) Then 5 minutes later, my friend who is pregnant texted that she took another pregnancy test (the one that predicts how far along you were) and the answer, since there was some debate over her LMP. Why does everyone come to me on all things fertility when I have told one friend, who knows no one and hasn't told a soul?

Well I'm out this month, AF decided to show up last night right as I was about to leave for work. The only good thing about her timing was I didn't have time to let my emotions get the best of me. DH wasn't home from work yet and was already gone when I got how this morning so I still have to break it to him later

@MrsMcD: Thank you (**,)
AF has not yet arrived today so I will be testing tomorrow morning.

@Tam: thank you. praying that AF stays away for you and you get a BFP tomorrow!!!!

@katieleigh_82: This is month 8 TTC so I am really really hoping for a BFP this month. Need all the prayers i can get x x

@katieleigh_82: sorry to hear you are out again. I hate getting AF before I leave for work, I like time o recover before facing the public!

@Crystal: it is really frustrating when you know mre than your doctor and they keep trying to feed you BS!
I am going for day 21 bloods on Friday, there's a good chance they will show very low levels as I've geared up twice ths month but not O'd, I seem to do that every few months. My doc said if I show anovulation she will refer me. I'm not sure what I will do f that s the case. This clinic will offer better care and has a philosophy I agree with whereas the doctor will prob throw some drugs at me and see what works but it will be free and probably a quicker start. If I don't conceive by September, we will be in a difficult (but dable) position for maternity leave. Any thoughts?
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@Snowdrop: That sucks. Nothing is truly "free" for anyone who pays taxes. And high prescription fees suck! My obgyn prescribed a certain prenatal vitamin but my insurance won't cover it and its $55 for a month supply. Gees... I still haven't bought it.
@Crystal: I will probably test with my one lone HPT on Saturday morning. After that, I will not buy any more HPTs.
@AmeliaBedilia: I'm so sorry everyone comes to about fertility issues. Its probably because of the professional connections you mentioned in your post. I have really found that the vast majority of people do not understand true fertility struggles. They are clueless and do not even know that there is a need to be sensitive about all things pregnancy related. Us TTC girls will either need to suffer silently in those awkward situations or we can say something. But usually I don't "suffer". I just inwardly roll my eyes and count all the other blessings I have in my life. But it still sucks...
@katieleigh_82: So sorry this isn't your month. At least you didn't get AF during work. Silver lining....
@Tam: I hoping that this is your month, lady!
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@Snowdrop: I think you need to do whatever works best for you but I would put the timing of the pregnancy as my least concern. Timing of pregnancy was always my #1 concern but now that I am struggling to conceive, I will take a baby anytime, anywhere. I would probably start with the free options. Fertility treatments can start to add up very quick so take advantage of whatever you can. Just my thoughts!
Can I ask how it was that you knew you were not ovulating?
pear / 1846 posts
@MrsMcD: I am ovulating, just very weak and often latish. My doctor doesn't have a clue and keeps asking for day 21 tests on day 21. I've tried to say, but she won't listen. If this test comes back low on Friday She should refer me according to the guidliness. Unfortunately fertility care in the NHS is backward and all geared towards IVF.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@Snowdrop: How do you know your ovulation is "weakish"? So sorry if these are obvious questions. I just use a clear blue digital ovulation test and don't really know how to determine weak ovulation.
pear / 1846 posts
@MrsMcD: my LP is short and usually this is a sign of weak ovulation. Obviously this is just an educated guess and one of the reasons I really would like to see an expert istead of someone who just follows guidelines!
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@Snowdrop: Thanks! That makes sense. I really hope you can get it figured out. I've been using maca powder in my daily morning shakes. Its supposed to help with LP issues. Just an FYI.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@Snowdrop: Not that I know of yet! I don't think I have any LP issues. I just started drinking the shakes during the last week of January after hearing about a few girls who got pregnant after doing the same. I give the same shakes to DH and make him drink them, too. He's a good sport like that most of the time.

@MrsMcD: that's good. I can't even get mine to take vitamins consistently!

@ameliabadelia sorry to her about your rough week! I hope that you can find a worthy distraction. I too am fed up with my job, I want to have a baby and stay home! Hugs, it's a tough time of life.
@katieigh_82 sorry to hear about your visit from AF. Nothing gets me down quite like AF hormones coupled with disappointment.
As for me, I am awaiting AF, I was super irritable at work today so I feel it coming. This month was a month off for me but I still hold out hope, people get pregnant on their off months all the time. But I brace myself for disappointment. April will be a year since my last M/C and I will qualify for tests and treatments. I don't want tests or treatments, but it will be nice to feel like I'm trying more, like I can do something.
My midwife says that if I exercised more I would before fertile, but I hate exercise.

@snowdrop, I too struggle to keep my husband healthy. He'd give any kid a run for their money when throwing fits over eating veggies, I have to sneak them in his food.
Also, I think it's neat that you live in England, I'd love to go travel there sometime. Sorry to hear about your health care woes, that sounds frustrating!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@katieleigh_82: So disappointed for you. Hugs!
@LalaYes: Thanks!
I had a stressful work meeting that went as well as could be expected. Now I am going to try to really stress less and turn things over to God.
The discussion of Snowdrop living in England made me realize that we don't even know where everyone is. I propose a roll call of geography. I'll start- Ohio!

I tested this morning and BFN but still no AF so i guess there is still hope for me. Although the BFN isn't very promising.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: California!
@Tam: there is still hope!
grapefruit / 4028 posts
I'm near @MrsMcD in California.
@LalaYes: I'm trying to focus on my health too, I think it may be playing a part in my difficulties getting pregnant.

Is it possible to ovulate 6 days after you get a on a digital OPK ? I'm trying to work out if I maybe calculated incorrectly.
pear / 1846 posts
@Tam: i would think it is very unlikely as if the LH trigger hadn't worked by then its effects would have worn off and i think your body would need to try again.
grape / 92 posts
@Snowdrop: Thanks, that makes sense. Its been 19 days after getting the smiley face but still BFN and no AF. So confusing.
pear / 1846 posts
@Tam: have you ever temped? I kind of know my range for pre o and post o so if ive ever needed to check i just take my bbt one day
grape / 92 posts
@Snowdrop: no i haven't. I can usually feel ovulation and 14 days later AF starts. This time round it hasn't. But it doesn't help getting just very confusing.
pear / 1846 posts
@Tam: I think it might be time for a blood test?
Just got an email back from the fertility clinic!
