My baby is almost 6 weeks old. He has "tummy time" on my chest every day - he lifts his head to look at me and is getting strong.
When should I move him to the floor? Or should I have already?

@Umbreon: we did it as soon as the umbilical cord fell off. So very early. They also tolerate it better the earlier you start.
Most WILL hate it at first but just stick it out.
You can start with just a couple mins at a time.
And if some days all you do is chest/shoulder tummy time 🤷♀️ It’ll be fine.

I tried to do both floor tummy time and on me tummy time. E was pretty good about tolerating whatever. Start small and work your way up. Even a min or two is a good place to start and if you can do it more then once a day great.

ASAP. It’s good for him to do tummy time anywhere, your chest, floor, pack and play while awake (mainly as a protected area away from pets, people, or siblings). Wherever. I started when my kids were a few days old.
My first kid didn’t love it and my second was a weirdo and loved it and we would do so much tummy time on the floor, it was wild. And my second had a really awful bum rash a few days after birth so needed lots of air it out time and because there was a penis involved I preferred that to take place on a towel on his tummy.

Thank you! We will start!
We have hardwoods throughout the house. Are those interlocking foam mats okay with a blanket on top? Or should I use the mattress from his pack n play? I worry about his head dropping too fast to the floor.

I used to put DD on the boppy on my bed. That way I didn’t have to lay on the floor and she was more eye level with stuff. Sometimes I just sat and played other times I foldered laundry!
