Sure, our 3 year old sleeps on a different floor with no issues. We have two up three down. The baby's room is upstairs. When she is older, we'll have both kids downstairs and rejoice in all of our private space upstairs!

@jedeve: we have a monitor and she calls out. She STTN so it rarely ever happens. We've told her that she isn't allowed to leave her room at night and must call out for us. My mom was sooooo worried over this. She told me that we had to sell the house and move when I told her our room set up. Lol! Tell your parents that it will be ok!
