Anything you want to rant about this monday morning?
I feel like very few things really get me frazzled, but this morning I show up to work (school librarian) and remember that today is the day the "student art show" is in my library.
This art show is...nice, I guess, but also a giant pain in my butt because it takes up the entire library for a whole week and the art teacher doesn't like kids to come in and get books during the entire week while the art is displayed.
However, in the past, I've kept some of the most popular books displayed in the front and I've let kids come in and get those at least. It doesn't sit well with me to close a library for an entire week in a school and not let kids check out books. Unfortunately, this tradition has been around way longer than I have worked here.
Anyway, so I get to work, and the art teacher comes in and starts taking down my library signage, taking down all my book displays, and making big piles of books in the corners. When I asked what he's doing, he's like, "Oh, I didn't tell you? We expanded the art show, We're using all the space this year and these book displays have to go".
UGH. I'm enraged, kind of. Like..WTF. my library signs can't stay IN THE LIBRARY? And it's too late for me to argue my cause, he's already taken them all down.
Okay, I feel better even just typing it out. Anyway, parents of school age kids, do you think it's cool for the library books to be unaccessible for an entire week?
