Our ped said that an umbilical hernia shouldn’t hurt baby and as long as I can push it in they won’t do anything about it. But baby girl is soooooooooo colicky. I don’t understand how it doesn’t hurt in a baby but the same hernia would hurt an adult?

Maybe it's got something to do with babies not eating solids? Still, that looks at best horribly uncomfortable and at worst very painful. Are you able to get a second opinion?
I've read that pediatricians take a wait and see approach with small hernias, but that's a pretty big one. It's probably only going to be more uncomfortable once she starts solids...

I would get a second opinion! That is big. I don’t have any direct experience but that would make me anxious.

An umbilical cord hernia should not cause pain in an adult FYI. If it did there would be concern of strangulated bowel.
My nephew had a similar size one and coincidentally colic as well. Both cleared up on their own

We’ve previously emailed as my brother has achondroplasia - he also had a hernia like this - it was fine until he was 4ish and then it twisted and he had to have emergency surgery on it. I’d definitely get a second opinion and see if you can avoid that.

My sons was the exact same after his cord fell off hes now 3 months old and its looking so much better since hes using his stomach muscles! Hes also a colicy baby 
as a parent we all worry
