When is it safe to introduce an umbrella stroller? Right now DH adores his jogging stroller and I'm starting to think that the travel system stroller is too big for my little car. LO is 5 1/2 months, 23 pounds. She has excellent head/neck control and switched to convertible car seats last weekend.

Sounds like she might be ready. We asked our dr for the go ahead around that time!

We put my DS in our umbrella stroller around 6 months. I think you would be ok!

@maisymay: We haven't switched to umbrella strollers yet, so I can't help, but I have a question for you. My DS is 5 months, 20 lbs and we are considering switching to a convertible seat soon. Why did you switch now? The weight limit on ours is 22 lbs and he doesn't seem uncomfortable yet.

We started around 6 months...I think ours says you can use it from 3 months because it reclines. I think you could switch now if you wanted to!

She sounds ready. I know a lot of them say six months.

i think she's ready. 23 pounds is bigger than olive at 20 months.

We used ours from birth because it lays flat. Your LO does sound ready, especially if you have a recline position.

@Katrocap: She's not the one who was uncomfortable, we were! Her weight plus the carseat was right about 30 pounds. That plus multiple bags and I was dying taking her out to the car every morning. It seems easier to carry her in one arm and my bags over my shoulder, and saving the 8 pounds is heavenly.

Wow, she's so big! L is just a few weeks behind and is 98.6% in weight and I don't think she's broken 19 lbs yet. Way to grow A!
We've used an umbrella stroller already. We reclined it a little so she wasn't fully upright. She is very strong and didn't slump over at all.
You know your LO better than us, if you think she'll be ok you're probably right.

@maisymay: I feel your pain. It is so heavy carrying DS in his carseat. However, we have a two door car and getting him in and out of the car is easier than it will be when we put him in the read-facing convertible. We're keeping him in the infant seat as long as possible!
