Haha! That is crazy! Ava, Evelyn, and Margaret are all reasonable names LOL! Nobody has unintentionally bashed our chosen name yet. But when we shared it with some of DH's family members, instead of commenting on it they suggested something else. It made me second guess it for a while, but now I've decided I don't care what they think (our name is reasonable too, and actually a fairly common boy's name)!

Well, my mom didn't do it unintentionally (it was very much intentional), but the other day she begged me to tell her the name we were considering, but I told her I was afraid to tell other people because of getting negative reactions. So she said "okay, okay, I promise I won't say anything negative. And I will cover my eyes so you can't see the look on my face if I hate it." So I told her the name and she proceeded to laugh in my face and said "Oh my word, I sure hope you don't decide on that name! That's horrible!"

yeah... definitely not telling anyone else.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: oh geez. that's why we didn't discuss names with friends or family after we found out R was a girl and we won't discuss names once we find out the sex for this babe!

apparently though, i had thrown out R and Lark as some girl names we were considering before we even knew it was a girl to some girlfriends and they remembered and those happened to be our top two choices! i totally forgot even having the conversation with them! no one said anything bad though.

I dissed the name Julia (for my situation) to one of VPs in my office. Of course she has a daughter named Julia. I tried to backpedal a lot but I think the damage was done. In reality, Julia was one of my favorite names growing up and I really like it for other people.

I was dissing the name Pypyr today to a friend (pronounced Piper) I saw it this weekend and just thought it was too much! Piper, sure, but Pypyr, no. At least i don't know anyone who wants to use this name!

Margaret is on of my names too. I like how many options there are for NNs too (Maggie, Gretta, etc). And I come from a two name kind of family and it works well with a second name (Margaret Mary/Maggie Mae, Molly Margaret, etc)

My mom didn't like the names we chose when we first told her what they would be, but now that we have our kids, she couldn't care less what their names are!

For what it's worth, I'm loving all the love that Margaret is getting in this thread, since it's my daughter's name!

Before we knew we were having a boy, my top girl name was Clementine. So many friends teased the name that I wanted to cry at the idea of someone teasing my kid.
