Hi Everybody!
I tend to be prone to UTIs and I wonder if there are some of you out there who are on the same boat? If so, how did your pregnancy go (or how is it going)?
I'm 12 weeks in right now.
Thanks!

Ugh I hate uti's! I've only had one, but it was misery!

I had a year long span where I kept getting them (along with yeast infections and BV). It was HORRIBLE! I haven't had any in several years, though. I'm so sorry you are prone to them.

I was prone to them back in my early 20s!!! I had a bad habit of holding my pee. I was super super super careful and I haven't gotten one yet in my 2 pregnancies so far. I just remember to pee whenever I feel like I need to.

I used to get them all the time a few years ago. I made sure to wipe front to back, peed immediately after doing it, and drink and take cranberry juice or supplements. Ugh, they are so painful.
I did tell my DR that I got them a lot and he gave me a prescription. I don't know if they are baby safe, though.

HATE UTIs. Also, make sure to pee after DTD! I'd let your doctor know just because mine doesn't do urine samples any longer at each appt. and it would be good to monitor.

I used to get UTIs a few times a year and would sometimes have a hard time getting rid of them. Because of that my midwife has had me give a urine sample at every single appointment, but at 39 weeks I have yet to have one!

I haven't had one yet with my pregnancy, but had one the week before we conceived! I'm hoping that they stay away, I do my best to go to the bathroom as soon as I feel like I need to go!

I used to get them in my 20's before realizing that I had to pee after sex every single time and never get lazy about it. I also read somewhere that taking the chewable vitamin C tablets (the kind that has 1000% of your RDA in a single tablet) made your pee acidic because any excess is flushed out of your body through your urine, and bacteria would have a hard time growing in it. I think that might have helped too, but I'm not sure if that is safe while pregnant.

I used to get them all the time too! Seriously one of the worst things I had to experience. I haven't gotten them in years, thank goodness! I used to drink tons of cranberry juice to flush it out and if it got really bad, I went to the doctor for some antibiotics.

Ugh, I used to get them somewhat frequently. But I didn't have a problem during pregnancy.

I have chronic UTIs and was actually seeing a specialist right when I got pregnant. I had about 9-10 in one year.
However, I am 38 weeks pregnant and have not gotten a single one this whole pregnancy! For some reason pregnancy cured them! I am guessing they will come back after baby though.

I got them a bunch in college. Whenever I felt one coming on I'd flood myself with cranberry juice and vitamin C.
During this pregnancy I had one and didn't even know it. I thought it felt weird to pee, but I attributed it to the pregnancy. Then my doctor called and told me to fill a prescription for antibiotics since I had an infection (I give a urine sample at each appointment). I haven't had one since, though.

Thank you for your response ladies!
I've tried everything listed above, but for some strange reason, I am just prone to it. Sigh... its just really frustrating.
I'm 12 weeks in and I already had one... I really don't want anymore and I am trying to be very diligent in taking care of myself... I just took another urine test to make sure it has cleared up.
@joyjoy: I hear ya! I don't know whether the weird feeling while peeing is from pregnancy or an infection. I have a standing order for tests so I just go to the nearest lab when I feel "off"

I have only had two in my life and they were both when I was pregnant- early in the first trimester for both pregnancies. This time my midwife has had me take a test once in the second trimester and will have be do another one soon (third trimester) because she said they're more likely to occur while pregnant, especially if you've already had one during the pregnancy. I think the big thing is just catching it as early as possible since they can be especially dangerous while pregnant, so I, too, have orders to get a test if I feel "off". (But I'm in the same boat, especially as the baby gets bigger, of wondering what's "off" and what's "OMG the baby is jamming her head in my crotch!")
