Deal fell through! We came down 3000 more dollars but he wouldn't budge. Frustrating but what can you do?

@Mrs. Sketchbook: ahhh, I'm sorry - how frustrating. It's awful to feel like you're giving your house away though. Hoping the right buyer comes along soon!!

@Mrs. Sketchbook: It sounds like the guy was watching way too much HGTV. My father just dealt with someone like this when selling my grandparent's house. That deal also fell through . On the bright side, after the first deal fell through, my father got an offer from a super-nice couple who were much more realistic. Hope you get another offer soon!

I'm glad it fell through, sounded awful. Good luck with the next buyer!

That stinks! I hope your next buyers are more reasonable. We are buying a house right now that looks like it needs a new roof. I feel a little bad because I am sure it's a punch in the gut to the sellers so I am trying my best to not be all friendly about it, ha. It does suck as a buyer to find out there are repairs needed but you also have to expect that it's not a brand new house!

@Mrs. Sketchbook: good for you for sticking to your guns. We asked for over 12k in repairs.. the sellers countered with a 2k credit at closing and we took it. We really wanted the house and it was already well priced so we decided to take what the owners wanted to give us. You will find a better, more reasonable buyer! Good luck!!

I agree that some people watch too much hgtv, lol! I feel like every transaction the buyers get the sellers to reduce the price, pay for closing and all repairs. That is not reality!
And my friend went through this when selling her home. The buyers gave a long list of items after the inspection so she actually chose to walk away. She had another buyer lined up immediately and the first buyer came crawling back too!
I am about to sell and am afraid of this. In my neighborhood it is still more of a sellers market since there is no inventory, but the real estate agent already gave us a list of things buyers will complain about.

Is your liner not under warranty? We also have a liner in ground pool and the lifespan of ours is 20 years, so I am surprised yours is sagging. In all honesty, that would be a big red flag for me, because a breach of that liner would mean 20,000 gallons of water in my basement, you know?

So we caved and accepted their lower offer. I wouldn't have done it if we didn't live in such a small town. I looked at the comparable and the closest house to us sold for about 15k less than our asking price. Now that we have a inspection we have to disclose the inspection results to any other buyers. Other homes in our hood have taken up to ten months to sell and I just don't have it in me to wait that long. At this moment in my life, freedom is more important than $$. I also realized that if these problems really are that bad we may have to fix them ourselves and I would rather pass them onto this buyer now than make the repairs and not recoup the investment in the repairs when we find another buyer. Due to our neighborhood and our house layout and the market I feel that this house does not have the potential to gain value from upgrades. Any upgrades we do would price the house out of the neighborhood.
