We did a modified 3 day potty training over the weekend and it went way better than expected. We put lo in a pull up overnight but she's been waking to pee once a night since day 1. She keeps her pullup dry.
Does this night waking last forever? It only takes a couple of minutes to get her to the potty, but I have a hard time falling back to sleep. I'm so proud of her but so tired!!!

While I was at a friends house this weekend I read a sheet her daycare had sent home about potty training. Her son is 10 months younger than my J and his daycare is different about how they go about potty training from what our daycare does, but had some good points on the take home sheet. One was "you don't ask, 'do you need to go potty?', you tell them, 'it's time to use the potty'. especially before car trips, bed times and when they wake up in the morning." I thought that was pretty good. I'm always asking J if he has to go, when I should be telling him it's time to go.
It also mentioned on the sheet, no water before bed and no cup in the car unless they ask for it. - I'm so used to just giving J something to take with him! I'm going to try waiting until he asks though.

She has potties before bed each night and had nothing to drink an hour before last night but still woke up. She did have to go but it wasn't a lot. Hoping she realizes she can hold it for a while but I guess only time will tell.
Good point about the car. I always have a cup to give her, but we're going on a 2.5 hour trip this weekend so I'll try to hold it off.

The night waking comes and goes for us. Sometimes she wakes up and asks to go and others she holds it all night. Still, there are others where she will just sit there and pee before waking us up. I so hate trudging to the basement to throw in a load of sheets in the middle of the night. I think she'll eventually be able to hold it longer. We don't give any drinks after dinner to help. I think that depends on your dinner/bedtime timing though.

Something that worked for us was putting the potty chair in DS's room (we have hardwood floors, so fewer worries about accidents). If he had to go at night, he was able to get out of bed, use the potty and get back into bed by himself without waking us. Now that he's older, he just gets up and goes to the toilet on his own and gets back into bed.

At some point LO could just stay dry all night...sometime after age 2.5. We trained early so it was several months. The thing that helps a bit is limit liquids after dinner time. I just try to have him drink a lot in the mornings.

@yellowbird: I know it's tiring, mama, but the fact that she's waking at night to pee is pretty huge. (From my perspective, b/c the kids I see can't wake at night and have longstanding issues with bed wetting.) A potty chair in the room is a good idea if you can swing it, but I'd just roll with it for the time being.

@Weagle: that is true. I wild rather her wake me up than pee the bed, so I should count my blessings there.
@lamariniere: a couple of friends suggested the potty in the room, but she's still in a crib and she can't get her pants down on her own so that won't work for us.
@Baby Boy Mom: she's 28 months so maybe a couple more months for her and she will get it.
@Espion: I agree! It is amazing she is able to wake and tell she has to pee. DH and I are alternating getting up with her so it's bearable for now. With a newborn in a couple months dh will have to take over I'm sure!
