Mine was a big gush. I was washing my hands after peeing, and then all of a sudden my pants were wet. When I went to wake up my hubby, he just told me that I must've peed on myself. Lol.

Two for two on movie style pop and gushes. With the first it was 4-5 hours before contractions began and 15 hours before DD1 was born. The second time contractions began about an hour prior, and DD2 was born 3 hours after.

Mine broke when i was walking in to the hospital. I'd say a medium-sized gush - it was all contained by a pad. It was definitely hotter than urine and unfortunately when I got to my room i realized there was meconium in it, so it was light green. No mistaking that.

Mine was a slow leak. It was my first sign that I was going into labour. I wasn't sure if that's what it was as it was just a small amount coming out for an hour or so. Walking up the stairs made it come out faster. Then I was going to the bathroom and leaned over to turn on the light and a bunch came out so then I was sure. At the hospital when I went to sit on the toilet it gushed out. Not obvious at all at first though!

It started with leaking when I went to the washroom before any contractions. And then gushes whenever a contraction came.

@ballerinabee: yep!
i woke up and went to the bathroom and then went to put on my leggings to go for a walk with my neighbor. as i was doing this, a gush came out onto the floor. i knew it wasn't pee as i literally just went. i called DH over who confirmed by the sweet smell that it was amniotic fluid (he just had his L&D shift as a paramedic the week prior!). i changed my pants and went to tie my shoes and another gush came out and then another. i gave up on the running shoes, put on sandals and a giant pad in case of more waters and went for a mile walk to breakfast, when my contractions started. i didn't rush to the hospital and only went when i couldn't stand the contractions at home anymore. i do wonder what the next labor for me will look like!

@birdofafeather: I love that you were so chill! My labor was super fast and furious, and I love the idea of a nice, calm start to labor!!

Mine was a big gush, but I was already at 8cm or so, at the hospital.

@birdofafeather: Same here! Ha. That means your intense part was realllllyyyy intense. My intense part was 7 hours, and your intensity sounds like it was packed into 4-5. Yikes mama! Go you!

I peed in the middle of the night and after laying back down for a few minutes I felt a small pop then a little trickle. I got up and ran to the bathroom where I had the classic gush all over the floor. Thank god for tile!

With DD it was four huge gushes and then no leaking after.
With DS it was a slow leak. Leak with every contraction, while moving etc
