I know there are a bunch of wives tales floating around out there that supposedly help trigger labor....has anyone actually had success with these wives tales? Something you did? Something you ate?
I want to try whatever I can do avoid induction!

I tried a few of them. Didn't work for me so I was induced. Don't stress too much about being induced. I know many on HB think they are evil but you have to get that baby out somehow! I was induced and -horrors- had an epidural and still had a vaginal birth after 30 mins pushing.

I have heard great things about acupuncture... I was on my way to my first appt when I started feeling contractions though.

I really think walking a ton sent me into labor with both my pregnancies; well, that and lots of sex.

My co-worker swore by eating tons of fresh pineapple and walking a lot. I choose to be induced because of sciatic pain so I don't have any personal experience; except that the induction wasn't bad at all.

I tried...
sex
spicy food
chinese food
spicy, chinese food
castor oil (DISGUSTING!!)
Scalini's Eggplant Parmesan
walking
squats
jumping jacks
evening primrose oil
red raspberry leaf tea (yes, i know it doesn't start labor. but i figured strengthening my uterus was a good thing)
I also had my membranes stripped twice.
None of that worked. I started trying everything at 38 weeks. My water broke when I was 40w2d. I think the only way any of the "tricks" will work is if your body is truly ready. At my 40 week appt, I was 4cm dilated.

I'm telling you, spicy food!
Flaming hot fish taco's and a good, fast paced mile long walk gave me contractions with my first

I got acupuncture 4 hours before I went into labor! I was 2 days late so I wanted baby out!

Sex and nipple stimulation. My water broke long before I had any contractions, one of the best things to ramp up my labour was sitting with my breast pump on.

Sex, papaya, spicy food, walking, doing a lot of stairs...

I tried alot. Chinese food and walking were what most people suggested, but nothing like that worked for me.

I took a long walk during each of the last few days before I went into labor. I would notice my BH contractions picking up during each walk, and eventually I went into labor on my own. I have no idea if the walking actually helped to trigger labor though, or if it was just my time...

My midwife actually gave me two bottles of castor oil to drink, because I had a high blood pressure reading at my 40 week appointment. I don't know if it had any effect, because I was already having contractions, but I delivered the next morning. I also did a lot of yoga squats and hip circles to try to help the baby move down
