We are very excited, but we are pretty nervous too! I just hope it all goes smoothly Were you more nervous or excited when you bought your first house?

Congratulations! We are excited, nervous, and anxious. We were supposed to close yesterday but there was a delay so it was pushed to today.

So exciting!! Congrats! I was over the moon happy/nervous when we closed! I got so aggravated because the realtor made it sound like we showed up for closing and got the keys right.then. Turns out, it took a couple hours after 'closing' to file the paperwork and they wouldn't give us the keys til after! So I was essentially bouncing off the walls with nervous energy (and pissed! lol).

Congratulations!
I was super nervous and excited. The previous owner was very high maintenance during our escrow period, and we had some issues come up at closing and afterward. I hope that none of that happens for you!

Congrats! We close on Friday and I'm terrified. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited...for it to be done and to have/be in the house! The whole process/concept/idea is so...grown up and "official..."

@Bao: Well, in our contract it stated that we would get keys 48 hours after closing. We closed on a Monday, should get keys by Wednesday at 8 p.m. At closing, it came up that she scheduled her movers to come on Thursday, but our Realtor had the contract and was able to point it out to her.
Then, when we finally had occupancy, there wasn't a key! She left it inside and locked the door, and we had to wait over an hour for her Realtor to track her down. M (our agent) threatened to use the escrow money to re-key every door in the house, and magically the seller found another spare key. She brought it by and then wouldn't give it to my husband, stating that she wasn't even sure it was the right key. Once we got inside, we found that some things had been taken that should have been left, and that there was a hole in the bathroom wall that had been duct taped and painted over. Also, the house and appliances were filthy.
Sorry about the book there.

@evansjamie: that's awful!
I was nervous, but things went somewhat smoothly.

@evansjamie: oh my gosh that is horrible Well sadly, the house we are buying is already dirty! They are not good housekeepers. I know we will have a ton of cleaning to do when we get there, as well as painting and a billion other things. I hope what we know is the worst of it, and there is nothing in hiding!

@Bao: good luck!!! I was so nervous about my first house closing that my body rebelled and I got stuck in the bathroom for 20 minutes. I swore I was going to miss the closing and miss out on my house.

@Bao: I hope you have a good closing! Nesting in a new house is so much fun, and the cleaning never seems that bad.

@Bao: Good luck!! Our closing was a breeze, I picked up the keys at 3pm and DH and I were in OUR house by 5pm wandering around staring at it with wonder and excitment. We ordered takeout from our favourite Italian place (moving back to our hometown, we missed it!), sat on lawn chairs and our parents came by to see it. We brought our airbed over so we could spend the first night in our house even though we weren't moving furniture until 2 days later. It was amazing!!! Soak it in, it's the best feeling ever!!

@prettylizy: How fun! We sadly don't get the keys for 2 more weeks, because they have to move out still. Bummer I wish we could move in now! It works out though because our lease is up March 31st, so it's perfect timing!

@Bao: it's going to be the longest 2 weeks of your life!! lol!!

Congratulations!!!
I was so nervous. I hated signing all the papers, so much. Now that I look back, if we truly loved and wanted our house - I should have been excited not nervous!!!

Congratulations! I was so excited! The previous owners left things spotless... There were even zebra vacuum lines in the carpet!
