I read the book. It was so twisted and just...words can't describe! It scared me!

@dagret: @mrsjazz: @mediagirl: @lioneyes: also read the book and it disturbed me for weeks after; made me feel physically anxious/uneasy. Definitely not seeing the movie!!! @highwire: I LOVE reading and often re read books multiple times...but this is one that I don't think I will ever read again.

Didn't see the movie but I attempted the book. I couldn't get very far into it.

The book was so, so gripping. I spoiled the big plot twist for myself by reading the wiki entry, sadly. But I really enjoyed the book. It was like this godawful train wreck you couldn't look away from.

I've been going back and forth about reading the book for about a year. I don't know if I can handle the intensity.

I read the review of this book, I will normally read anything, but I don't know if I can get on board with this book. Sounds maybe a little too twisted for my liking!

Read the book and then saw the movie (while pregnant!). It's definitely disturbing, but I think worth it. Lionel Shriver is one of my favorite authors and I think Tilda Swinton does an incredible job in the film, so that's my two cents.

@meredithNYC: Can I ask which of her other books you've read? After reading We Need to Talk About Kevin, I read The Female of the Species, and I couldn't get into it at all. Are there any of her others I should definitely check out?

@IRunForFun: I really like "The Post-Birthday World" and "So Much for That" is decent, too. She has a new one coming out soon called "Big Brother," but I haven't heard much about it. Here's a good profile of her from Elle that really highlights what an odd person she is:

I read the book, and it put me on edge for weeks. I don't think I could handle the movie, especially now that I'm pregnant and due any day now.

I read the synopsis online this morning after seeing this thread. I've been looking for a new book to read and it intrigued me so I downloaded it to my kindle and have been reading during naps today. It's really pulled me in so far!

I didn't like the movie but the book freaked the crap out of me. That toilet training scene is haunting me!
