Yes, I received it! It was very informative, thanks.
What's the difference between the newsletter and a regular post? It seems like this newsletter on toddler tantrums could have just been a blog post?

BTW was there supposed to be some design element/branding? It wasn't visible for me.

Got it!
And I agree with @sloaneandpuffy: that there should be something distinguishing it as a HB Newsletter. Maybe even just a simple headline in the subject?

@su9su9: This was more of a personal story than we normally publish on the blog. It summarized and linked to a bunch of previous blogs we had written on the subject... it's a new format we developed and will be exploring.
@regberadaisy: We will look into some options. I had planned to put an explanation up top that this was our first newsletter, but we ran out of time and didn't want to postpone things any longer!

@sloaneandpuffy: Nope, no design elements in this first one... we're trying out a less designed style, per this blog post!

@mrbee: oh very interesting!! thanks for the link.
But it's not just plain text, is it? The way it's indented is what made me think... "is there supposed to be a frame around this or something?" I guess that's where my confusion came from... it looked like my e-mail service was blocking something....

I got it. It definitely needs at least an HB logo or something, otherwise its just a text email and doesn't look newslettery...
Also, sorry, but I unsubscribed since its not a good time for me to be getting baby care emails. Maybe there is some way to filter people who are TTC/IF?
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@sloaneandpuffy: Ah I didn't see any indentation in my version!!
Can you send me a screenshot of what you're seeing at mrbee@hellobee.com?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I agree with others - at first I didn't know what it was and then I realized it was the newsletter. I think maybe SOME design elements would be nice, like having the hellobee logo or something it. Also maybe having the title of the e-mail indicate that it's the newsletter? I was originally all "Why is Hellobee sending me this random e-mail?"

Got it! I know I'm only one, buuuut I actually prefer newsletters with headings (baby center, the bump weekly updates, etc). It seems more professional to me?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@sorrycharlie: You're not the only one - I prefer them too. I'm a very visual person, so stuff like that pulls me in. Like how the blog breaks up sections with nice headers, that helps keep me interested. If it's just one big blurb of text, I'm less likely to keep reading.

I got it but likes others I think future ones need a heading/logo something.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts
Got it, and like others I was confused the first few times I glanced at it. I feel like it ought to be titled newsletter or something.
coconut / 8854 posts
I got it, but like others I ended up not even reading it because of the format. It didn't really catch my attention or interest me in reading it because the text was so plain. It was too much for me without any breaks or anything. Sorry...
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@sloaneandpuffy: ah the template must've been centered! I'll fix that in future versions. Thanks for sending the screenshot!
@sorrycharlie: @MaisyMay: I'll work on the subject line, thanks for feedback!
@MrsBrewer: Sorry about that. We'll take a look at the results from the first newsletter going out, and tweak from there! One thing Bee and I have noticed though is that we tend to stop reading graphics heavy newsletters? We'll work to find a balance!
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
I got it! I responded thinking it was sent to me by mistake. It looked very e-maily instead of newslettery so I was confused!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
I got it! I was so happy to see a newsletter from HB!!
I agree with everyone - the centered text was odd and I thought it was a personal email from someone at HB because there was no explanation that it was a newsletter.
That being said, I love it! I love that your first newsletter was a personal story tied to helping parents with something their child may be going through. I can't wait to get more of them, @mrbee!!

@Bao: are you subscribed to the newsletter? Let me know and either way… When I get back to my desk I'll send you a copy!

I got it and the content was great. But I was confused as to what it was until I got to reading it carefully.

Got it
Very well written, I liked the links, and the suggestions were great.
I agree about the title distinguishing it as a newsletter, initially I thought it was a reply from a boards post.
I understand keeping it simple, as in no photos, but it didn't fit into the HB style, it could use a little visual interest, as in a border or a water color illustration.
