I need ideas on how to help my toddler gain weight. She is 2.5 and is a super picky eater. She has gained half a lb since last year. Any mamas have any ideas on how to make her eat and gain weight?

I have a friend in a similar situation and she puts full fat butter, OOV, and coconut oil in everything she gives her LO. Her example she gave me was a cheese sandwich - she coats the bread with butter and cooks it in butter too.

When my grandma had problems gaining weight they recommended eating cheesecake

Yep! Along with @Tanjowen:'s suggestion…LO never gets a plain cracker--it always has peanut butter or almond butter. Anything saucy gets lots of extra olive oil, butter like crazy, whole milk, etc. My 2y3m son is maybe 20 pounds now. He's super tiny and just will be that way (I was as well.) Luckily my ped isn't concerned (he was losing weight around 8 months and she was concerned then, but since he's been back on his curve, she's fine), but I still push healthy fats whenever I can.

@littleblessings: My friend is in a similar situation and here are some link she shared with me. She said she tried to make every bite count since her son didn't eat much. So she loves making these Energy Balls and also adds high fat additions to anything she cooks like ground flax seed, chia seeds, sesame seeds, shreeded cocomut, coconut oil, etc. If your LO will eat avocado, give him lots!

@lady grey: have you ever mixed avocado with anything to make it not green. She associates green with gross. Lol

@littleblessings: my oldest guy loves coconut icecream. It seems to help, plus kid loves peanut butter. Hope you find something that works soon.

I add whole milk powder to whole milk for my LO along with everything above. But my ped is happy as long as he doesn't lose between 2 & 3. It's a hard year for weight gain. So half a pound isn't terrible. How big is your Lo?

@Mrs Green Grass: she just hit 26 lbs.
@lady grey: good idea. Would it mask the flavor too? Idk if she will like avocado.

@littleblessings: I think so, it doesn't have a very strong flavor. Add frozen bananas for sweetness and any other fruit she may like. I also put spinach and kale in my LO's smoothies because he won't eat many veggies.
Another idea- chocolate + avocado! She will think its a treat:

@Mrs Green Grass: she was on the bigger end around her first birthday. Now she's on the smaller end. Super skinny but tall.
@lady grey: that actually sounds good and I'm not a fan of avocados

@littleblessings: avocado, chocolate and bananas for a pudding. I've heard the pudding works with sweet potatoes too.
We did lots of fatty meats for him and a nutritional drink (he couldn't have dairy so it was hypo allergenic),
Also sunbutter is more calorically dense than peanut butter.

@littleblessings: smoothies work well for us too because you can really up the calories
