Anyone else experience a large weight gain in a short amount of time? I had not gained anything at my 18 week appointment, at my almost 22 week appointment I jumped 10 lbs! It is the only weight I have gained, but the nurse was very surprised but the large jump in the short time.
I am now freaking out about my diet, since I was getting sloppy there for awhile eating EVERYTHING that sounded good. I need to re-introduce my nutrients back into my diet.

Yep! I gained 20lbs during my last 9 weeks of pregnancy!

I just weighed myself this morning. I hadn't really gained anything. Now at 19 weeks, I gained 5 lbs in two weeks. It doesn't sound like much when I write it out... it's just hard seeing that scale flash numbers I've never seen before. I'm like you and worried that I've let my junk food eating get out of control. I need to take a break on the candy! lol I just try to remind myself it's all for the baby.

I had a jump both pregnancies about then. So, obviously it's a good thing to try to eat well, but try not to panic!

@Hanasu: I know I"m trying to remember it's good to gain weight. I know that with all the BBQs we have been attending, I have been spenting way too much time at the dessert bar and not enough at the fresh fruit and veggie table!! ha and that needs to change for sure.

My biggest jump was between 24 and 28 weeks.... but that was the month of December so I bet you can guess why! lol.
I had only gained 17lbs as of the first week of December... and ended up gaining almost 60.

YES! Around the same time as you, I gained 9lbs in 4 weeks. Did your OB say anything to you about it? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. If you feel like you've been eating out of control, just try to limit your portions of sweets. That's what I did and it really helped.
I gained 42lbs at 38 weeks and now I'm down to 41lbs. Not intentionally, just eating less because there's less room!

@mediagirl: No she wasn't concerned, she just said she was as surprised as I was for the big jump. She mentioned re-testing on a different scale but we never did. She just said "lets not make a habit of this okay, and I agreed!" haha

My entire weight gain this pregnancy has consisted of sharp spikes and then plateaus. I've had a couple of weeks where it's been normal but for the most part, it's been a gain of 4 - 5 pounds in a week, followed by several weeks of not gaining anything. The midwives haven't been worried so neither am I. I'm 37 weeks now with a total weight gain of 27 pounds.

I also had a 10 pound weight gain. Really woke me up too and made me think about eating healthier, which did help in the end. Good luck!
