When I was in middle school I had to go to tutoring 2x a week for math.. that lady got paid like $20 an hour to teach me pre-algebra so tutoring seems to be a well paying job if you're really good at anything!

Tutoring has made the most money for us! It's difficult to find students, but once you start a network and start getting referrals, the work almost becomes too much. Wagon Sr. had to stop tutoring because it was taking up so much of his night and weekend time. So he waited til his students aged out (graduated high school) and then didn't take on new students.

If he were to start up again in the future (very possible, maybe in a few years) I would demand that his students come to our house!! Some of his students were up to 45 minutes away and that travel time, even though the parents paid for it, was just too much.

I work part time in a clinic doing patient registration, scheduling, insurance, medical records type stuff. a general AA/AAS degree is preferred but some people recently got hired who just have some minimal college classes. It's a decent job with good pay and particularly for me is great for networking and experience as I'm in nursing school. It definitely pays more than minimum wage- and my health organization offers benefits for .5+ FTE employees which is awesome!

@lizzywiz: I don't know that grocery stores have big enough margins to give you a discount. But I like your idea I've always wanted to get a part time job at Nordstrom for the discount

@cmomma17: my dh actually found his first job after we moved here from a temp agency. It was a night shift job but they had 3 shifts so day was a possibility. They had awesome day shift hours. 6-2! It payed really well!

I'd say maybe receptionist it billing for a medical office?

What about substitute teacher?

I am working p/t at the public library while looking for f/t work. I love it! I make much better than minimum wage, and interact with patrons enough to make it interesting but not enough to make me hate people (well, most days ). The hours are super flexible, the people are fun, and I'm the first one to get a look at the new books coming in, so I never want for something interesting to read! I hope to stay working there a few nights/week when I do find a f/t job, just because it is so fun!
