Fo DS they were able to tell us at our 12 week u/s that he was a boy. Same for two friends of mine. Were they able to tell at yours? If so, was baby a boy or girl?
I'll a little over a week out from mine. On one hand I hope they can tell because I'm impatient. On the other, I don't want to hear boy.

I don't know because the techs and Drs never mentioned sex at my scans around 12 weeks. I asked for guesses but I don't think they are allowed to discuss sex at ultrasounds until the anatomy scan.

The mfm office that does them for my doc won't guess, but looking at them my guess was girl and I was right. But there is a 50/50 shot you guess right and I'm still a bit skeptical about how accurate the nub theory is

We were BFFs with our tech by the time we had our NT scan, because of a previous loss that required lots of monitoring. So, at 13 weeks, she was like "So, guys, I'm not really supposed to say this, but do you want to know what I think? I'm always right." Haha! We said we did, and she guessed girl. She was right!

The tech guessed at 12 weeks dd1 was a girl, and she was right.
Then they guessed at 13 weeks dd2 was a boy, and they were wrong.
They said they were 99% sure dd3 was a girl at 13 weeks, and they were right.

I had a lot of ultrasounds. At 12, 14, and 15 weeks they guessed boy (1st guess was by OB, 2nd guess by tech, 3rd guess was 99% confident guess by high risk doc)

I just had my appt at 11w4d and the tech and another OB asked if I wanted a guess. They both said girl (which is what I've been suspecting). They also said they're only about 80% sure though.

The MFM place where I had my NT Scan won't guess. I probably wouldn't want a guess because I would hate to get attached to an idea and have it be wrong! I would be more willing to trust a boy guess than a girl guess though. I mean, if they see a penis, they see a penis. If they don't see a penis, could mean it's not there, or they just don't see it.

The tech wouldn't even consider guessing, she said it was way too early and they aren't allowed to say.

I asked and the tech guessed girl but said it was only maybe 70% chance. I will find out next week if she was right (assuming baby cooperates and shows us the goods!)

She made it clear both times for us that it was just a guess and to not go painting the nursery, but for pregnancy #1 she guessed boy and was correct, pregnancy #2 she again guessed boy but was wrong.

We didn't do a 12 week U/S but I think you should schedule an elective 3D U/S at 15 weeks or so since you are so anxious to know 
I think the elective places can usually tell at 15 or 16 weeks.

I didn't ask with LO1, but this time I asked if they were able to guess (I was 11w6d) and she said she didn't like to guess until at least 12 1/2 weeks, and moreso after 13 weeks. I would have put off my NT scan a week if I knew that!

I'm glad to see that some with girls were told at 12 weeks. Fingers crossed! I'll be 12w4d. If they can't tell, I'd love the schedule an elective but I don't see DH going for it.

With my 1st they could tell at 12 weeks. With my 2nd they couldn't tell from the U.S. but I had a blood test.

@ladybee: What about doing the genetic testing like Harmony to be sure? Since you are really attached to one gender I would be scared for them to tell you it's a girl and be wrong!

@ladybee: Oh boo! Our doc said she only strongly recommends it for 35+ but anyone can do it. It was only $250 out of pocket if insurance didn't cover it.

At my RE, the tech mentioned she saw something that made it seem like we had one boy in there. I think it was early at 8 weeks. When we transferred to the OB, the tech didn't say much about what we were having. She said it was too soon at 12 weeks. Even at 16 weeks, she said it was might be too soon to make a guess. She made the guess and it was confirmed at 20 weeks. MY OB has mentioned that the tech is very good at her job and trusts her.

We were told with our boy. with a girl they said "if I had to guess, girl, but I can't say that with any certainty". they were both right!

@bluestriped bee: with DS they said boy at 12 weeks and then when I had one at 17 weeks due to a car accident they confirmed. It's so weird how some places will say and some won't.

Turns out my tech guess right at 12 weeks- at today's scan the tech said with 99% certainty that she's a girl!

With my son they wouldn't guess, and with my daughter she guessed "girl... no, boy... no, girl" lol. We did blood work, so I found out officially about a week later, but I did think that our son looked like a boy and our daughter looked like a girl

With DS, they looked when I had my NT scan at 12 weeks. They were 95% confident and they were right.
Hoping to find out at 12 weeks again. Fingers crossed.

We did a low-risk NT scan at 14 weeks and the OB said he was 80% sure it was a boy - and we found out at 20 weeks that he was right

Just an update, they refused to even take a guess today. I guess I'll be waiting till my anatomy scan!

My tech before we moved when I was pregnant with my son said "looks like a boy" at ten weeks followed by "it's still early though". She was right!
Waiting for this next ultrasound for my second. Hopefully a girl!
