I wasn't, but my brother had a nightlight for a very long time.
Were you afraid of the dark when you were little?

I was, yes. Well not exactly of the dark itself, but I would get scared at night. I always saw monsters in the wood grain of my bedroom walls, or guys with bows and arrows (weird, right?) in the tree outside my window.

I wasn't. But I also don't think I was in the dark much. I would leave my door open at night so there was always light (until everyone went to bed of course but I was already asleep by then). Also, I never slept in my own bed. I'd go sleep with my sister.

Was. Still am. I can't sleep in total darkness. It freaks me out. Almost always have either a lamp or the TV on.

I don't like wandering around my house in total darkness, but I'm fine with sleeping in the dark... it's strange.

I was never afraid of the dark overall (slept in the dark, could walk around the house at night, etc), but I would sleep with the light on if we watched a scary movie. I still do that sometimes. Also, dark bathrooms freak me out. I have to turn the light on, even if I'm just walking in to grab something.

I wasn't, but I grew up in big cities where darkness just never seemed total.

Yep, always have been. Every creepy thing I've ever seen or heard (think movie trailers, stupid stories from friends, etc)would come into my mind and freak me out as soon as the lights went out.
I do way better since being married in our current home. I think it's something about not being alone at night, and we have lots of high windows, so it's never totally dark.
Camping is still kind of an exception for me as an adult though - being outside, in the woods, in the dark is a whole different ballgame of scaries!

Still am!
I can't let any body parts hand off the bed either because I'm afraid someone is going to grab me and pull me under. Same issue with our deck at night...afraid someone will jump in front of the window if the curtains are open or grab me and pull me outside if I open the door.

@prettylizy: Same!!! Sometimes I get freaked out when I'm walking to and from the bathroom in the middle of the night, but I like it to be really dark when I'm falling asleep.

Sometimes. But after watching a scary movie... always.

@mrs. tictactoe: me too! I like it pitch black when I sleep but I'll turn on all the lights if I have to go get something from the kitchen or living room.
I also hate it when my husband whispers and its completely dark...even if he's not saying anything scary...I'm a weirdo
