We just booked our flights to NYC to celebrate our first anniversary in a few months. I'm so excited! I've never been!!
Any tips? We're especially looking for a hotel recommendation without an astronomical price.

Exciting! I've heard good things about On The Ave on W. 77th St. My friend also snagged a stay at The Empire Hotel via Priceline... Sorry those are the only hotel tips this local has got. Oh! Also maybe check out VRBO?

I have stayed at On The Ave several times. It is not bad. I think it is a good deal for NYC.

what's your budget? i heard the marriot at times square is reasonably priced right at the heart of times square. i've stayed at the omni for 1 night and it was pretty nice (but small!).... i've been to a party at le meridien (sp?) which was very nice, but not sure about pricing. there are also a bunch of boutique hotels down south....

I love NYC! I would recommend looking for a hotel in the area of the city you plan to explore the most, especially if you don't want to or don't plan to use the subway. That will cut down on what you'll spend on cabs.

yay! check out travelzoo.com, they always have deals on hotels in the middle of the city.

Last time we went to NY we stayed at a place called The Roosevelt. It was well-located and fairly nice. We actually found a better deal on their website than on hotels.com or any of those, so be sure to check out individual hotel websites if you find a place that looks interesting.
Have a great time!

OOOH have fun! Be sure to check out Central Park, it's so gorgeous!
Also, go to Crumbs! They have the best cupcakes!

Thanks everyone! We actually scored a great deal on a hotel in the financial district, it's very close to the subway, so I think it'll be good!! Great reviews on Trip Advisor

So exciting and happy early anniversary! I've never been, so I'm of no help, but please share how you enjoy it and any tips you come across.
There are a couple of NY bees around, maybe they can help you? And maybe Mr. & Mrs. Bee can, too?

Awesome, hope you have a great anniversary!
You should do the circle line cruise, you get to see a lot of the city. Some of my favorite places to go to while there are serendipity for frozen hot chocolate (which is right by Dylan's candy bar...) and of course to see a Broadway show.
