My Grandmothers' middle names - Henrietta and Josephine. Love them! Would never use them.

Eleanor, call her Ellie, like my grandpa called my grandma but it doesn't go with our last name.

Alice. I love it, but our last name starts with an S, so it sounds dumb.

Eleanor (Grandmother's middle name, but also a grade school friend so it would be weird) and Stephen (because it would get way too confusing!)

I love Beatrice with bea as a nickname. It's dhs grandma and he hates it
I love old people names so it's hard to find a family name I don't love.

Audrey. I love it but I have a great aunt with the same name. I don't dislike her but we aren't close either.

Jewell (grandma's name and my mom's legal name) and Camilla. I may still use Camilla actually. I love it!

My great grandmothers: Emma and Eva. Growing up I always wanted to use them. Too popular now

@mediagirl: my grandma is Josephine too, but were going to use it as a middle.
DHs mom was Nita, which I tink is pretty cool but couldnt see myself using. His grandma is Evelyn, which is also pretty butnwe already named C after his grandma, so its my sides turn next. Lol

Mabel. I'm still not sure I wouldn't use it. DH and I both had incredible great grandmothers named Mabel - one who raised two sons as a single mother during the depression (not easy!) and one who adopted my grandmother from an orphanage at three years old and changed her life (and therefore mine) completely.

Jacob. It's my last name and I always thought I'd use it as a name for future DS but DH took my name and its too popular as a first name.

DH's great grandmother was a feisty little French lady named Birdie and I just love it but would never be gutsy enough to use it! If we came up with a good B name it's a strong possibility for a nickname

Oh my goodness, I love so many of these names - Josephine, Alice, Evelyn, and Eleanor in particular. I can't really think of any names in either my family, or DH's family, that I particularly love but wouldn't use. The family names we like (James, Cameron, and Vivian) we have already used (E's middle name is Vivian) or are on our short list if we have a boy.

@TheSwissStyleWife: We have Emma, too, and wouldn't use it due to its popularity--thanks Friends!
I like a lot of these names especially Virginia, Josephine/Josie (our dog's name--kind of wish we saved it for a kid!), Alice, Beatrice, and Virginia.

I have great aunts who were very special to me. One is Ada and one is Emma (different sides of the family). I always thought I might use one of those, but they are so popular now.
DH's grandma's name was Zella. I think it's adorable but way too strange to name my baby.

I have a lot: Gertrude. Patricia. Edward. Maureen. Thomas. Liam. Vincent. Rebecca. Della. Benjamin. Noah.

Charles is on both sides of my family, but I think it would be too confusing to add another Charles to the mix.

One great grandmother's name is Eulila, and she went by Lila, and I love it. But, I can't get DH on board with it. I am going to try, again, though, if we have another girl.
Another great grandmother is Ruth, and I like it, but I've seen it used too much, lately.
Lastly, my mom's mom was Audrey, which is a beautiful name, but I don't feel right using it, for some reason...maybe as a middle name, but that's it.

My grandfather's name is Simeon. Barney, Frances, Francis are also big family names. Probably....won't use any of them!

@Shutterbug: I LOVE the name Mabel! Mothers Always Bring Extra Love
@mrs. 64: My LO's name is that A name. It was DH's great-grandmother's name. We often hear, "I haven't heard that name in so long! It was my great-aunt's name." :). Other than DH's ex-gf who has a daughter with the same exact first and middle name, we haven't met any other little As.
nectarine / 2936 posts
@Weagle: Yes, you're right, I've only heard of one other. Mainly there are so many Avas including one that would be future LO's cousin. We already have a Connor and a Cannon that the gparents can't keep straight.
Such a cute name though!

So many women in my family are some version of Mary-- Mary, Mary Ann, Maureen, Marie... so I'd love to use some version of Mary as a first name but don't have one I love! We'll use some version of it as a middle name though.
Otherwise we don't have a ton of family names that we'd want to use. Lots of repetition, actually. I would have used my dad's name, Howard, as a middle name, but our last name starts with Ho and I think it's just too much repetition.

Lola - my grandma's name. Never met her, but I look just like her and I looove her name. Doesn't go with our last name though.
Also, Diane. I have 2 aunts named Diane, one spelled with one 'n', the other as Dianne. So I'd have to 'pick' which aunt I was naming her after

DH's grandma's names are Rose and Sophie. I LOVE the name Sophie Rose, but Sophie is waaaaay too popular
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
Mae is a family name on both sides. I really really wanted to use it as a middle name, but DH said no way
honeydew / 7586 posts
My grandfather's name was Harvey and I absolutely LOVE that name. Too bad everyone else hates it and talked us out of using it for LO. =(
