What are you getting your Husband for Christmas?

@looch: Sigh, techy guys are the worst (lol). That is my issue with my husband. He isn't handy-- doesn't like tools. And smaller stuff like headphones or slippers or clothes he just buys himself. We're pretty free with buying ourselves stuff we want which means the only things he ever really wants are like, $500+ technology. Lame.

I got DH a leather messenger bag. Right now he's using an old laptop bag of mine to transport his iPad and lunch for work every day, so I wanted him to have something nicer.

I also got him a ball cap from his favourite NFL team. Planning to get a couple other small things...probably a few shirts/sweaters from BR and maybe a ceramic pan (he wants one for making eggs).

We're doing a fairly low-key gift exchange this year since I'm on mat leave.

@Mae: What about a pebble smartwatch?

@looch: He's not so much into wearable tech. Also he asked for a specific watch and his mom is getting him that! (He makes lists for his parents but not me. not fair lol).

There is ONE thing I may try to get him. He wants this specific pair of retro Jordans that come out next weekend, but they are VERY hard to get. Like get online and try the moment they are released and you probably still won't get them. And to make things more challenging the day they come out we'll be in the middle of the woods in a lodge with his family for christmas so i'll only have my iPhone and the 3g doesn't work terribly well out there! So I'm going to try but I'm thinking it is unlikely i'll be able to snag a pair.

@Mae: Good luck with that! That sounds like my worst nightmare in trying to aquire a gift!

@looch: lol i know. On one hand it is super annoying because it's like… why can't you be normal and want normal things rather than things that are either super expensive and/or insanely hard to actually procure?

But on the other he never actually says to me: Please get me x. It's just that I know him and I know that is what he wants and you can't help liking what you like.

I went a little crazy on DH this year and got him a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablet. He has had his eye on one for a while, but doesn't spend money on himself. It was definitely his turn for a big gift.

My parents and I went in together and got him an ocean kayak. I also set him up on a guided fishing tour and got him a fancy paddle. This is by far his most expensive Christmas yet, why is it that the older you get the more expensive the toys get?

A Patagonia fleece he really wants
    Books
    Turbulators
Christmas ornament (each Christmas I get him an ornament made from the material of whatever the "wedding anniversary gift" for that year is)
    SmartWool socks
    new PJs
    cuff links
a travel coffee mug from Shutterfly with pictures of DD
    swim goggles
candle sniffer (this one is really odd, and it's more of a joke - every time he blows out the dining table candles he blows wax all over our hurricane lamps and I am sick of cleaning them!)

@septca: how clever about the ornament made from the material of the anniversary year!

So far I've bought him the 3 book box set of Alton Brown. He LOVES Alton. I think I'll also get him a few pairs of jeans and maaaybe a Kindle. I know he likes the idea of them but he really likes to have the real book.

@Pepper: my DH really wants a headlamp, too!

@Mae: can you steal ideas from the list he gave his parents?

@fussygal: the shoes were on the list for his mom! (although he put on there that it was "the tickle me elmo" of gifts and probably not worth the hassle to attempt to get). I know she won't get them because they are more than she usually spends, which is why i'm assuming she'll get him the watch on there bc that is the only other thing thats a "biggish" thing is more what she generally spends. the other stuff on his lists are all little stuff like $20 blu rays. Meh. haha.

I'm sure I will figure SOMETHING out but ugh so difficult!

Christmas is always tough because his birthday is a month before and he gets everything he wants then. He keeps hinting that he's hoping someone will get him something that indicates he's going to be a dad, so I tracked down the diaper bag he said he wanted and am going to fill it with gifts.

I think a pair of aviator Ray Bans. Not sure about anything else as my mum usually gets the socks, underwear and pj pants and SIL and MIL will buy shirts and sweaters. He said he needs a new grilling set so maybe that too?
