@SweetiePie: Gosh, I am sooooo torn! I have been debating ordering them for 2 weeks now. I am not sure I could wear them right now, but I feel for Spring, they'll be great!

@FannyMae: All of this sounds SO cute. What brand(s) puffer vest do you have? In the market for one.......

@Mrs. High Heels: Do you find Toms comfortable? I also love slip on shoes and thats basically all I wear ... I have birks, uggs, and havianas flip flops. Seems like Toms might round out my collection and I might need some

@wrkbrk: yes, really comfortable! And I have unfortunate feet (they're wide and flat).

@wrkbrk: puffer jacket is just columbia brand - the coldest it gets here really is about 10-15 degrees celcius in winter, so it's not freezing or snowing. Its an omni heat one, and its not too puffy at all. I do find myself in a bit of a monochrome rut though, I'm not sure why I always levitate to the same grey/black/red/stripe all the time!

@FannyMae: No, I like the capsule wardrobe idea where everything coordinates with everything else!

Thank you all for the great advice and ideas! I'm definitely feeling inspired to clean out my closet, see what I already have, and go from there.

I am pretty boring and cheap when it comes to clothes. I also work part-time in a business casual environment, so I'm home half the week and need my wardrobe to do double duty. Mostly, I wear the same tops but change out the bottoms for work. I wear black trousers or skirts to work and wear black leggings, joggers, yoga pants, or jeans at home. Denimwise, I have 2 pairs of blue stretchy skinnies, 1 pair of black stretchy skinnies, and 2 pairs of loose, distressed boyfriends.

I keep a LOT of long spaghetti strap tank tops on hand and wear them under everything - they smooth, cover my hips, and I just feel more held together. I have mainly black and white ones, but keep at least one in every color. The 2-pack modal tanks at Costco are my favorite.

I have lots of thin cotton v-neck tees that I layer over the top of my tanks. J Crew shirts are a nice thin cotton, although I have plenty from Target/Mossimo that do the same thing for me. Long/Tall shirts from Gap and Old Navy are also a favorite.

I wear a lot of thin, open cardigans and have them in black, oatmeal, gray, and a few fun colors or stripes. Its easy to throw over anything. I also like having a denim shirt that I can roll the sleeves up on.

I have a few long colorful tunic tops I wear in the spring or summer, but usually stick to solids and stripes in cold weather. I also keep a few pairs of easy, loose shorts for the summer. Last summer I had 2 pairs of print shorts and 2 pairs of linen blend shorts in white and army green, a black jersey skirt, and some black culottes. 1-2 maxi dresses and 2 short sundresses.

I wear a black leather cross-body bag most of the time - its easier to wrangle my toddler without having to hold a bag on my forearm or shoulder. I also put a big caribiner clip on my keys and use a Contigo water bottle with a clip handle so I can clip them to the bag strap on the go. You can also stick a spider clip on the strap and pin up your hair if needed.

If I want to look a little nicer, I have big long necklaces I can quickly pull over my head, although I try to avoid it when having to deal with my toddler. I always carry large good quality sunglasses and lipgloss too. I try to get regular manicures so I look somewhat together.

For shoes, I mostly like slip on and go shoes. I keep a pair of Rainbow flip flops, a pair of black fur-lined Crocs for winter, gray fake Uggs, Sanuk yoga-slings in black, Dansko wedge sandals (for work), Cole Haan wedge heels (for work), and a pair of fun leopard print slip-ons that look like Vans slip-ons.
